Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp: Nate’s Trenches Standouts

We move into the trenches at the first ever Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp as we took a look and who were noted as our MVPs from each group and who has shown growth throughout the summer camp after camp!   Offensive Line    It's now been a couple UMAC prospect camps this summer where Burnsville 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1588168' first='Sam' last='Liebl'] has caught my attention. Sam showed off a noticable quickness about him with his first step as he was one of the faster offensive linemen to get into his sets especially during the pass-pro reps I took in on Saturday at the Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp. That quickness continued in the chunk of reps I watched from Sam when it came to how quickly he engaged his hands. He's one that might be under the size profile for the hog mollies, but surely could be a good fit in the UMAC as I feel the work ethic and toughness I have seen out of this young man this summer could excel at the next-level.     Another name that popped out at the Minnesota-Morris camp out of St. Cloud, was St. Cloud Apollo's [player_tooltip player_id='2252212' first='Hayden' last='Solberg']. Hayden is one that still has the raw upside that is still getting untapped, but by the end of camp with some 1v1 coaching the 6'2 255 pounder was sneaking in some solid reps in 1v1 during pass-pro. The tape shows efficency out into the second level more as a run-blocker so with that being said getting more reps in pass-pro situations should benefit this young man as he picked up his first off from the Cougars after camp.     OL MVP   It did not take us long to figure out who the best offensive linemen in attendance was at the Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp, as I was really intrigued by 2027 newcomer [player_tooltip player_id='2252210' first='Reed' last='Nelson'] of Rocori on Saturday. The 5'11 250 pounder was well-rounded in my eyes with the skillsets that he showed starting with the proficent hand speed and well-versed pad level he showed off at camp. He's one that also camped above his measurables, as Reed was a OL prospect that punched above his measurables while also showing off fluidity in his movement with his footwork. He's one that you could tell is also instinctive with how quickly he fires out his hands in position off the snap as I thought Reed was one of the balanced OL in attendance at Morris, getting the nod for my OL MVP.    Defensive Line    One of the more intriguing 2028s in the defensive line group at the Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp was Climax's [player_tooltip player_id='2250902' first='Dustin' last='Carl']. He showed off his stock during the 1v1s I got to watch showing off progressive hands that won a handful of reps I watched as one of the top-tier 2028 defensive linemen in attendance. Not only was I intrigued with Dustin's hands from our first look, but the flexiblity he showed with his lower body when he had to change directions to get off blocks was another area that showed off in the live eval. Those lengthy strides you see coming off the EDGE surely passed the eye test, as Dustin is one that surely should get on our 2028 DL board here in Minnesota.     Another new name that jumped onto my radar in the live evals we got at the Minnesota-Morris camp was another EDGE rusher this time from the 2027 class in Clearbrook-Gonvick's [player_tooltip player_id='2248279' first='Carter' last='Ballard']. I could grasp from watching Carter's live reps the quick change of speed that he gained the more reps he got in during 1v1s, as Carter showed off not only the sound motor you want in your defensive trenches, but more progressive quickness with his hands. I thought Carter was one of the more coachable prospects out of the DL group as anything he was given, he put it into fruitation quickly from a technique perspective.     2028 DL MVP   I don't think there was a DL prospect in attendance at the Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp that won more reps than White Bear Lake 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2246378' first='Tyler' last='Lewis'] during the 1v1 session with the Cougars. The 5'9 196 pounder produced the agile twitch you want to see coming off the edge and due to his size profile, was able to obtain a low pad-level to get under the pads of the OLs in attendance and quickly get into the backfield as Tyler also showed light hands when he did have to get off blockers when the speed rush wasn't there. He showed off a eye-catching inside move on a consistent basis and was surely a high motored defensive end that played WAY above his measurables in Morris last Saturday.     2027 DL MVP]   Another MVP this time from the 2027 group of the defensive linemen at the Minnesota-Morris Prospect Camp was Providence Academy's [player_tooltip player_id='1651659' first='Jacob' last='Gieseke']. Jacob showed what I thought in the live eval was one of the most explosive get offs I saw amongst the DL group as he showed off fluid power from start to finish in every rep I got to watch as Jacob showed off one of the more relentless motors I saw at camp as well. The 6'0 230 pounder, was a long strider as well from the reps I got to watch for his size and I thought had some of the most physical hands amongst the defensive line group in Morris too. He's starting to pick up steam on his recruiting trail, with two Division III offers in the last handful of weeks.
