KY ‘27 Position Rankings Breakdowns: QB

With the month of July coming close to an end, we are just weeks away from the start of the 2026 high school football season. As we approach the season, we have begun a new round of rankings updates. The latest class to be updated in Kentucky is the incoming senior class of 2027. With our newest Top 250 being released for the class, I will be taking some time to break them down by position. To kick things off, here are our top quarterbacks in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky.    [player_tooltip player_id='1157497' first='Dre'mail' last='Carothers'] made a name for himself last season as he led Owensboro Catholic all the way to the 2A State Championship Game. As a junior, he completed 287/427 passes for 4,022 yards, 49 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 15 games. Carothers has tremendous poise in the pocket, showing the ability to stand tall in the pocket to go through his progressions and also showing the ability to maneuver to avoid pressure when necessary while keeping his eyes down the field. He also has a cannon for an arm which he uses to stretch the field with ease in the deep passing game. Dre'mail also showed the ability to make plays with his legs when needed last season, running the ball 33 times for 111 yards and a touchdown. Carothers is committed to Louisville where I can see him becoming a very productive quarterback at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='400864' first='Landen' last='Holley'] is one of the most intriguing players coming into the 2026 season as he is a highly regarded quarterback transferring in from Florida. Holley is a true escape artist, showing the ability to use his speed and elusiveness to avoid opposing pass rushers while keeping his eyes down the field to find the open man then following it up with the arm talent to make off balance throws under pressure. He has also shown the ability to use his arm strength to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. Landen currently has a long list of Division I/Power 4 offers and I expect more to continue to pile up heading into his senior season.     [player_tooltip player_id='374785' first='Zane' last='Johnson'] has become a household name across the Bluegrass State as he will be looking to win his fourth-straight 6A state title this season as Trinity's starting quarterback. He had a tremendous junior year, completing 176/258 passes for 2,925 yards, 52 touchdowns, and only three interceptions in only 15 games. Johnson has very impressive accuracy as he is able to put a ton of zip on his passes to either simply hit his receivers out of their breaks or fit passes into tight coverage. He has also shown that he is calm under pressure, showing the ability to make tough throws look easy while opposing pass rushers close in on him. Zane also scored one rushing touchdown as a junior. Johnson is committed to Buffalo where I can honestly see him being the face of their offense early in his career.     [player_tooltip player_id='205472' first='Emmett' last='Queen'] is coming off a strong junior year in which he completed 150/210 passes for 2,710 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just two interceptions in 13 games. Queen is the perfect fit for the Beechwood offense with their abundance of speed on the outside at receiver as he has the arm strength to lead them down the field and hit them in stride with ease in the deep passing game. He has also shown impressive accuracy, timing his passes perfectly to hit receivers out of their breaks. Queen also scored six rushing touchdowns this past season. Emmett is committed to Wake Forest where I can see him developing into a productive quarterback at the next level.     To wrap up our top five quarterbacks in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='378831' first='Kade' last='Goodin']. Goodin had an impressive junior season, completing 164/276 passes for 2,357 yards, 22 touchdowns, and three interceptions in nine games. He has shown tremendous ball placement as a passer, putting his passes in a spot where only his intended receiver has a chance to catch it. While he is a strong passer, he is just as, if not more, dangerous as a runner. Goodin has shown the ability to use his explosive speed, whether it is on a designed quarterback run or he is escaping pressure, to run away from the defense to pick up a big gain at any given moment. He finished his junior year as his team's leading rusher, carrying the ball 105 times for 770 yards and 21 touchdowns. Kade is committed to Ball State where I can see him having a lot of success at the college level.
