Kentucky State Football Camp: By the Numbers

<p>The 121 campers who attended at Kentucky State University this past weekend were tested on several measurables, including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, and the pro shuttle. Let's see the three campers (nine total) who measured the highest in each of the three categories.</p>   <p><em>*All measures were completed by hand on-site at the camp*</em></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">40-yard dash</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Tied for the fastest player on the field this past weekend was QB [player_tooltip player_id='817258' first='Kaden' last='Mack'] from DuPont Manual. He ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash on his first attempt. His second attempt saw him run a 5.10 -- but his first run tops all runners from the entire camp. In addition, Mack also clocked a 4.53 in the pro shuttle and a 110 in the broad jump, both of which are above average based on the camp's stats. It goes without saying that Mack is a pure athlete with the football in his hands. His dual-threat ability makes him one of the most dynamic incoming senior QBs in Louisville, and he proved why at Kentucky State on Sunday. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1849897' first='Jamarlon' last='Herring'], who will appear on this list one more time, tied for the top spot at the camp with a 4.53 40-yard dash time. His second attempt was good for 4.66, showing a consistent speed for Herring out of the breaks. That isn't all, as he proved to be one of the better campers at both of the other measurable drills as well. He also tested a 4.59 in the pro shuttle and was ranked No. 1 in the broad jump. You'll have to stay tuned later in the list to see what he tested there.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2212825' first='Destinn' last='Basemore'] rounds out the top three in the 40-yard dash by clocking a 4.62 on his first attempt and a 4.65 on his second. Basemore is a running back and linebacker for Louisville Central, and proved his potential for explosiveness by also testing a 109 in the broad jump, as well as a 4.65 in the pro shuttle. His above-average testing scores made him stand out as one of the top athletes of the day on Sunday. In addition, Basemore recently cracked the new class of 2027 rankings.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Broad Jump</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1849897' first='Jamarlon' last='Herring'] continued his fantastic showing at Kentucky State by scoring a 125 in the broad jump. That's 10 feet, 5 inches cleared, good for most of any camper this past weekend, and in a class of his own. This is in addition to having tied for the best 40-yard dash time as previously stated (4.53 seconds). He's the only athlete to appear on this list twice, so it goes without saying that Herring was the most athletic player at the camp on paper. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Dallas Johnson was arguably the most impressive defensive back during one-on-one drills this past weekend, so it goes as no surprise that he ranked among the top in not one, but two of these measurable drills. He tested a 115, meaning he cleared 9 feet, 7 inches on the broad jump. In addition, Johnson tested No. 1 in the pro shuttle drill, which you can find in the next section. However, he chose not to participate in the 40-yard dash despite completing the other two drills and showing out in one-on-ones.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2252080' first='Jaden' last='Perry'], a wide receiver from Louisville Central, tied for second place in the broad jump at Kentucky State on Sunday by scoring a 115. Clearing 9 feet, 7 inches, Perry is a couple of inches shorter than the other top broad jumpers at the camp, but still managed to test in the top three in this particular category. He also ran a 4.66 in both of his 40-yard dash attempts and scored a 4.62 and a 4.66 in the pro shuttle. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pro Shuttle</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Dallas Johnson ranked No. 1 among all campers at Kentucky State yesterday in the pro shuttle drill, logging a blazing 4.29 in his only attempt at the drill. He did not try a second time. This was on top of him already finishing as one of the top broad jumpers at the camp. While Johnson chose not to run the 40-yard dash, he more than made up for the missed measurable by proving himself as arguably the best lockdown defensive back during one-on-ones at the camp on Sunday. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Jayden Harris came in from Ohio, where he posted one of the top pro shuttle times in the entire camp. He logged a 4.34 to go along with two 40-yard dash times in the 4.8's and an impressive 115 in the broad jump. That technically ties him for second in the latter measurable drill, so he could have realistically made this list twice. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2252087' first='Phillip' last='Higgins'] from Frederick Douglass rounds out the top three in the pro shuttle by logging a 4.37-second score. Higgins ran a 4.69 and 4.74 in the 40-yard dash, respectively, to go along with a 111 score in the broad jump. These are fantastic scores for a linebacker, and Higgins could be someone who turns some heads on The Farm this fall. </p>    <p></p>
