Around Kentucky: Pulaski County’s Rising Prospects

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's keep looking at specific teams around the Bluegrass. Today, we're targeting Pulaski County ahead of what the Maroons hope to be another outstanding season in Somerset. He finished the season with a whopping 1,808 yards -- a new school rushing record. He also amassed 22 touchdowns in his breakout season. Overall, he's one of the best pure athletes I've reviewed on tape this offseason. As a running back, he hits holes hard and has fantastic balance that helps him bounce off defenders and stay upright. He's hard to bring down and already has the size and speed of a tailback at the next level. Defensively, he's used all over the field, but is most effective as a linebacker. Finley is an explosive pass-rusher and run-stopper down low. He has demonstrated a great sense of anticipating throws from opposing quarterbacks, can jump routes, and is a sure tackler anywhere on the field. On multiple occasions last season, Finley flocked to the ball carrier, initiated contact, and drove them backward. Offensively, Finley uses that same explosiveness and can speed his way free from defenders in man coverage. He's a true playmaker with the ball in his hands, liable to break free for chunk plays on any down. Whitaker does a good job of avoiding contact and has proven his ability to weave his way through a defense. One thing that impressed me is that he doesn't shy away from contact when it's unavoidable, either. Rather, he lowers his shoulder and initiates it. He's a Swiss Army Knife who you can plug anywhere and get solid production from. Godby is an impressive defender from the linebacker position, where he showed a great deal of hustle flocking to the football, shedding blocks, and quickly recognizing plays. On offense, Godby is used as a wideout. There, he has proven his ability to slip through the defense as a good route runner with soft hands and speed to help him outrun the defense. On the field, he's powerful yet athletic in the trenches. Several instances from last fall show him overwhelming his opposition as both an OL and a DT. Offensively, he's trusted to pull across the offensive line to serve as a lead blocker. On defense, Webb is aggressive in pursuit of the ball carrier and is a good run-stopper down low.
