UNLV Mega Camp: Las Vegas Locals Bring Home MVP Honors

The annual UNLV Mega Camp once again served as one of the premier recruiting events in the West, bringing together college coaches from more than 30 programs and top prospects from across the country. With talent packed into every position group, competition was fierce throughout the day as athletes battled through testing, positional work, and one-on-one periods. Despite the national-level talent on hand, several Las Vegas standouts proved they belonged among the event's best performers. Eight local prospects separated themselves from the field and earned MVP recognition with dominant showings in front of college staffs. From established Division I recruits to rising underclassmen beginning to make their mark, these players showcased why Southern Nevada continues to produce elite football talent.    Amina looked every bit like one of the nation's top young quarterbacks during his MVP performance. The Bishop Gorman signal caller displayed outstanding arm talent, effortlessly driving the football to every level of the field throughout the workout. He consistently threw with timing and anticipation while maintaining accuracy during competitive periods. What separates him from many quarterbacks his age is his ability to extend plays and create with his legs when protection breaks down. With multiple Division I offers already on the table, Amina backed up the recruiting attention with one of the most impressive performances of the entire camp.     Dunlap-Myvett was arguably the most dominant defensive back in attendance during one-on-one competition. He showcased elite man coverage skills, staying attached to receivers throughout routes and rarely giving up separation. His closing burst was exceptional, allowing him to erase throwing windows and arrive at the catch point with authority. The Centennial standout also displayed natural ball skills, consistently locating and attacking the football in the air. His combination of athleticism, instincts, and competitiveness made him a difficult matchup all afternoon.     Monaghan was one of the most physically impressive quarterbacks on the field, standing out immediately with his size and frame. At 6-foot-5, he possesses the prototype build colleges covet while also displaying the arm strength to match. He consistently delivered the football with velocity and confidence during throwing periods. Beyond his arm talent, Monaghan showed mobility and toughness, moving effectively outside the pocket when plays extended. His blend of size, athleticism, and quarterback traits made him one of the top performers in attendance.     Porter continues to establish himself as one of Nevada's top young quarterbacks. The 2029 prospect showed advanced mechanics and impressive accuracy for his age, consistently delivering catchable footballs throughout the session. His arm talent stood out during deeper route concepts where he demonstrated the ability to push the ball downfield with ease. Just as impressive was his understanding of timing and leverage, showing a high football IQ beyond his years. Porter left camp looking like a prospect with significant long-term upside.     Washington continues to prove why he is already generating national attention as one of the top prospects in the 2030 class. The young running back showcased a rare combination of size, explosiveness, and lateral quickness throughout the day. He was dynamic in space, making defenders miss with sharp cuts and sudden change-of-direction ability. Despite his elusiveness, he also displayed the strength and physicality to run through contact when needed. Washington's overall athletic profile is extremely advanced for his age and points toward a very bright future.     Ronquillo put together one of the strongest defensive back performances among the underclassmen at camp. His length immediately stood out and allowed him to challenge receivers at the line of scrimmage and throughout routes. He demonstrated excellent ball tracking ability, consistently locating deep passes and positioning himself to make plays. In man coverage situations, he showed fluid movement skills and the athleticism to stay in phase against quality competition. The combination of size, range, and coverage ability makes him an intriguing young prospect to monitor.     Johnson brought a highly competitive edge to every rep and consistently found ways to impact drills. His speed was evident throughout the camp, allowing him to recover quickly and challenge receivers down the field. He paired that athleticism with strong man coverage skills and the confidence to compete against anyone lined up across from him. Johnson also flashed excellent ball skills, attacking the football aggressively whenever opportunities presented themselves. His explosive athletic profile and playmaking ability helped earn him well-deserved MVP recognition.     Ivory may have been one of the biggest physical mismatches at the event regardless of class. The 6-foot-3 edge rusher possesses outstanding size and length for a 2029 prospect and complemented those traits with elite movement skills. His verified 4.5 laser forty speed was evident during positional work, where he consistently threatened offensive linemen with burst off the edge. Ivory also displayed impressive bend and flexibility, allowing him to corner efficiently and finish plays. With his rare athletic profile and developmental upside, he looks like one of the premier young defensive prospects in the region.
