UND Flagship Camp: Nate's MN-DAK LB/DB Standouts

Last but not least, we moved over to the defensive side of the ball to take a look at the linebackers and defensive backs that caught our attention at the final UND Flagship Camp of the summer out of Minnesota and the Dakotas. This grouping logs prospects from three states, with new names, LBs we already have rising, and one particular DB that I am super surprised doesn't have his first offer yet.   Linebackers:    A new name alert from the linebacker group at the UND Flagship Camp on Thursday has been called for Grand Forks Central 2028 linebacker Devin Wockenfuss. The linebacker reps we got to watch out Devin showed off more force than you would expect at his size with his hands and how physical he was getting them into the bags from the Indy drills I watched. A 2028 that we'll need to see more tape out of heading into his junior season right up the road at Grand Forks Central.     Easily one of the best Dakotas linebackers in my eyes was Deuel's [player_tooltip player_id='2105228' first='Aidan' last='Sievers']. The nearly 6'1 205 pounder showed off length that didn't take long to see when you watched his reps, as Aidan showed off a 6'5 wingspan up in Grand Forks which surely will catch more college coaches attention here soon. Another skillset that stood out with Aidan during his live eval was the twitchy movement you saw with his release down to the ball carrier as Aidan showed off not only that, but I could feel that this young man could be a rangy sideline to sideline linebacker at the next-level the more I watched him during this live eval. I already have him logged as a sound stockriser in this 2027 South Dakota class incoming here by the end of the summer.   <a href="https://x.com/aidansievers27" id="https://x.com/aidansievers27">TWITTER</a>    Defensive Backs:    A 2028 defensive back that should surely move the needle of our our 2028 watchlist to the 2028 North Dakota rankings will be West Fargo Sheyenne's [player_tooltip player_id='2073396' first='Ty' last='Hazer']. The more reps I got to watch out of Ty in the defensive back group in Grand Forks, the more coachable I thought this young man was as I liked where his learning curve took him during the live reps on Thursday afternoon. He got better with showing off tighter change of direction with his ball-tracking, and showed off smoother angles getting upfield to the ball in the reps I watched. One of a couple Mustang 2028 defensive backs you will hear about out this group.     Mack is our DB2 in the 2028 North Dakota class as he surely looked like he's elevated his game even more since our last live eval at a college camp. The 5'11 180 pounder from West Fargo Sheyenne was one of the more well-rounded 2028 defensive backs from my eyes as Mack's grown with a plethora of his skillsets since the Coo Falls Prospect Camp last summer. His footwork showed off the fluid change of direction you wanted to see in the reps I watched. He showed off commanding angles with his ball-tracking ability upfield in the reps I watched and I felt the reps got better time after time the more I watched. Surely a 2028 to watch for this fall that should be a solid junior campaign in the Mustangs secondary.     Blaise might have gotten my last live eval of the day during 1v1s, but the growth I have started to see from this young man this summer at the defensive back positon has grown on me in the live eval. He showed off a bump and run corner that showed off the physicality you want to see from the jump in the secondary from his reps. On one particular rep I watched from Blaise, he show intriguing ball-tracking ability that allowed him to shield off the WR and utilize his sizable hands along the edges of the field. Surely a two-way athlete that's ranked in our top 20 overall in the 2028 class to keep watching develop heading into his junior season for the Squirrels     A defensive back that's been on our camp radars a handful this summer that had another productive camp showing as one of the best Minnesota cornerbacks in attendance, was Maple Grove's [player_tooltip player_id='2126678' first='TJ' last='Williams']. The 5'9 160 pounder ran a 4.75 40-yard dash and his most productive testing number came with his pro agility which was a top-tier 4.35 amongst the defensive backs in attendance. His ability to pin WRs early in their reps off-balance is what struck a chord with me for TJ in his live eval, as he showed that off numerous times in Grand Forks on Thursday afternoon. I heard a few college coaches mention TJ's name on Thursday, but as of right now he's one that surprises me after a production June on the camp circuit, why he doesn't have an offer yet.     Chan has been a defensive back prospect that has grown on us over the last couple of years, but what he showed off at the final UND Flagship Camp of the summer showed why his stock has continued to grow at the next-level. His range for his size and frame has grown even further in my eyes during camps this summer and he showed off eye-catching change of direction on his release to get upfield quickly to the ball during the Indy reps I watched out of Chan in Grand Forks. He's started to see the attention come his way too, with offers from Bemidji State, Jamestown, and most recently after the UND Flagship Camp, MSU-Moorhead.
