PRZNY Exposure Series: RB Notes II

The 2029 Iona Prep prospect can play on both sides of the ball. He showcased solid speed, ranking in the top 20 for the showcase. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Merlo was excellent despite the difficult conditions. he showcased good footwork, and was excellent in and out of jump cuts. I liked his ability to get a quick burst in open space. He showcased good focus in space, and had a few good routes in 1v1. He was a player I was eager to see compete, and he put on a show. [player_tooltip player_id='2151815' first='William' last='Gonzalez'] was a solid combine performer, and ranked in the top half of all drills. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gonzalez was an excellent prospect, who despite a smaller frame, put on an impressive showing for the scouts and coaches. I liked his footwork, and he ran with balance, giving him the ability to move in and out of cuts. He ran the 4th fastest 40-time of the showcase. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>DeSocio was a strong runner, who showcased good footwork, and a quick burst of speed in and out of cuts. I like him a lot in the pass reps in 1v1 work, and despite a bit of stiffness, showed good route running, and the ability to make catches as a WR. Fry is a player I love watching, and he displays the potential to play across the offense. I like him more at RB. He was the fastest man in Warwick, with a 4.61 40-Time despite the tricky conditions. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"What doesn't he do well" was the word from the scouts. He was a little stiff in his hips, through reps, but showcased good speed and was exceptional as a runner. He can look to improve as a pass catcher, but he does show good route running abilities, and is excellent at gaining separation from LB's and he should easily be a prospect playing at the next level.
