Northwest Showcase: Quarterback stars and standouts

This weekend's Northwest Showcase featured roughly 800 prospects and 100 college coaches for one of the biggest mega-camps in the West region.   Dozens of quarterbacks showed up to compete - with several standing out from the Pacific Northwest.   Here's a look at the Oregon and Washington quarterbacks who had a good day at the event:   [player_tooltip player_id='904208' first='Zeke' last='Thomas'], Willamette (2028); Boise State commit — Unsurprisingly, Thomas was the top Northwest quarterback at The Northwest Showcase.   He threw the ball with the touch, accuracy and consistency one would expect in a multi-FBS offer kid.   Frankly, Thomas looked like a Power 4 guy, and it will be interesting to see if a few big-time schools jump on him as he continues to ascend.   There's no debate in the prospect world right now: Thomas is the best quarterback in Oregon.    [player_tooltip player_id='796694' first='Jordan' last='Rossetta'], Grants Pass (2027) — The first-team all-league quarterback arrived at The Northwest Showcase with an opportunity to earn an offer.   He seized the moment.   After a strong day throwing the football, Rossetta earned his first scholarship offer from Whitworth.   [player_tooltip player_id='1613160' first='Brady' last='Bonnell'], Tahoma (2028) — The 6-foot-1, 205-pound signal-caller is one of the better passers in the state of Washington.   That ability was on display Saturday, as Bonnell threw a nice ball both on the move and from the pocket.   He already holds offers from Idaho and Portland State, and his performance only further cemented that he's a Division I-caliber quarterback.    [player_tooltip player_id='937183' first='Aris' last='Dimick'], Tigard (2027) — Dimick was mentioned as a candidate for Session 4 QB MVP.   While he didn't win it, that nomination shows the type of day he had.   The 6-foot-5, 205-pound signal-caller is hearing from a lot of schools, and it will be fascinating to see which one offers him first.   [player_tooltip player_id='2056041' first='Jude' last='Buck'], Cleveland (2029) — After a strong freshman campaign at Cleveland, Buck has continued that momentum into the offseason.   The young signal-caller looks like he could develop into one of the state's best passers by the end of his high school career.   Buck is holding his own against good competition, which should serve him really well this fall.    [player_tooltip player_id='2154114' first='Lincoln' last='Heinrich'], Walla Walla (2028) — Heinrich had a solid season, but entered the offseason with a need to continue to work on his accuracy after throwing 13 interceptions last fall.   He looks like he's made some progress in that regard, and it will be interesting to see how that translates to his numbers this season.    A big year could be in store.    [player_tooltip player_id='1257695' first='Emmit' last='Distefano'], Thurston (2027) — Fresh off a PRZ QB MVP award, Distefano continued to be an ascending talent at The Northwest Showcase.   In the past two weeks, Distefano has picked up offers from Pacific and Lewis and Clark - and continues to generate buzz on the recruiting trail.   Thurston has a really good one under center.    Jacob Herman, Clackamas (2028) — Clackamas has a new coach in Ryan McCants and a solid, young quarterback in Jacob Herman.   A week after a strong showing in Las Vegas, the class of 2028 signal-caller threw a nice ball during the Western Oregon camp.   He's an intriguing young player who should be a major bright spot for the Cavaliers this fall.    [player_tooltip player_id='2107842' first='Nick' last='Dillon'], Lincoln (2029) — Lincoln has a ton of quality small school football players in its senior class.   But the biggest question might be the quarterback position.   Multiple players will have a crack at it, but [player_tooltip player_id='2107842' first='Nick' last='Dillon'] may have the most raw talent as a pure passer.   Dillon competed despite being under the weather and generated a positive review from at least one coach on hand.   It will be interesting to watch his development, because he's got some potential.    [player_tooltip player_id='1611487' first='Nolan' last='Wolfe'], Glencoe (2028) — Glencoe has itself a good young quarterback in Wolfe.   The 6-foot-4, 205-pound signal-caller threw a nice ball on a comeback route in one-on-one and just generally looks the part of an all-league quarterback - with upside.    [player_tooltip player_id='2142262' first='Eli' last='Downing'], Olympia (2029) — The 6-foot, 185-pound signal-caller has been a player on our radar for awhile now.   Downing threw one of the day's best-placed throws on a deep go-ball into the endzone and looked good in drills.   He's a player to watch.    [player_tooltip player_id='2178861' first='Gage' last='Creasey'], Grant (2028) — Following an all-league season last fall, Creasey continues to look like he's making strides as a quarterback.   He should be competing for that first-team all-PIL spot this season as a junior.   [player_tooltip player_id='1750393' first='Cole' last='Burton'], Wilsonville (2028) —  After a strong sophomore campaign, this was expected to be a big year of camps for Burton.   So far, so good.   The 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal-caller had a solid day at The Northwest Showcase and heads to The Northwest Best Showcase early next week with momentum on his side.   Burton is a guy I really like, and want to see more of this summer.    [player_tooltip player_id='1161283' first='Madden' last='Hughes'], Cascade (2028) — An excellent athlete who shines brightest when he can use both his arm and athleticism, Hughes had a good day.   He spent Sunday working with big-time quarterback coach John Mannion and looks like a player to watch as he continues to develop.    [player_tooltip player_id='2105974' first='Kai' last='Boatsman'], Sherwood (2028) — Boatsman flashed his skillset in five games last season after coming back from injury.   He looks back to full strength and threw a nice ball all day.   The 6-foot-5, 190-pound signal-caller has an intriguing and should take a giant step forward statistically this fall.   All the pieces are there.
