Northern Indiana Recruiting: Top Prospects Land Offers and Commit

College prospects in Indiana made their verbal pledges over the past week and landed some new offers as the NCAA contact period draws to a close and the dead period begins. Recruiting will switch off in the weeks ahead as college coaches take time off and get ready for the season; here are four prospects who received offers and a look at what each team could be getting in their athletic abilities, with an emphasis on northern Indiana players.

North Side defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1604731' first='Omarion' last='Waites'], at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, is a quick and explosive defensive lineman who can hold the point of attack, occupy multiple blockers and wrap up. Plays with good bend and leverage v. the run. We were impressed with him at his team's college day, and think he could be a steal for Eastern Michigan, where he committed in June.

[player_tooltip player_id='2145433' first='Leslie' last='Woodson'] is a strong edge prospect for North Side. We love his athleticism, first-step quickness, twitch off the LOS and pass rush skills. Woodson has a great motor and works to the whistle, and a great frame with room to grow in a college weight program. Given his extremely athletic bloodlines, he has a huge ceiling and is a high competitor. He gave his verbal pledge to Iowa State.

[player_tooltip player_id='2064617' first='Terrance' last='Epperson'] is an explosive running back who is likely to see his recruiting rise this season. The 5-foot-8, 180-pound tailback for defending state champion Bishop Luers has a big ceiling with his vision, patience to follow blocks, change-of-direction, and breakaway speed. Epperson was one of several recruits who picked up an offer from Miami-Ohio at their underclassmen camp last week.

[player_tooltip player_id='2232753' first='William' last='Gilbert'] is a big-sized edge prospect who can rush the passer, flashes solid first-step quickness and can be hard to block. Very good at creating misdirection with a strong counter rush move. At 6-foot-4 plus, 230 pounds, he has the frame to play either defensive end or defensive tackle. Lapel High School Class of 2027 prospect recently picked up an offer from Indiana State.
