, at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, is a quick and explosive defensive lineman who can hold the point of attack, occupy multiple blockers and wrap up. Plays with good bend and leverage v. the run. We were impressed with him at his team’s college day, and think he could be a steal for Eastern Michigan, where he committed in June.

Waites is a physical interior lineman with good burst for his size. He’s got strong hands and can get off run blocks to close running lanes. He moves well side to side and can stay in phase with the ball carrier while staying square to the line. He stays in his lane and doesn’t overcommit and take bad angles. I like his consistency, being able to get off blocks and make simple plays in the running game. He’s recently caught the eyes of Eastern Michigan and Kent State, but it’s safe to say those won’t be the last offers coming his way.

Waites has given the North Side defense a big boost this year and looks good doing it. He’s got a big frame, he’s strong, and he knows how to use the tools in his bag. He’s incredibly effective near the LOS and getting pressure on the QB or slowing down the run. He can beat Tackles with speed or power. He’s got long arms that can bring down the ball carrier as he tries to go by Waites. I just like how disruptive he can be and how he forces the opposing QB to panic at times. He put up 81 tackles, 13 TFLs, and 4 sacks on the year.

Played TE last season but seems to be making a move to the DE spot. Good get-off, first-step quickness, strong ability to shed blocks and develop into a solid pass rusher. Really like him and his future at the DE position moreso than TE. Has developed into a very muscular prospect. High academic player.

Waites is an intriguing player that I think can garner quite a bit of attention. He’s on both sides of the ball, but last year spent a good amount of time being an impactful blocker from the TE slot. He plays angry and it shows. He’s a good athlete with range and a frame that can truly develop at TE.
