June 2nd Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp: Nate’s Notebook Part 3

We are down to the final 10 prospects that caught our attention at the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp on Tuesday night. Let's get this show on the road as we feature a huge amount of 2027s across Minnesota that elevated their stock in Dinkytown and a couple 2028 offensive linemen that could develop rising stock here soon.    A new 2028 name that caught my attention at the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp on Tuesday, hailling from my neck of the woods in the 608 area code was Max Crimmings from Verona. He might not have the ideal frame as of yet, but from watching him the testing period, he popped out explosive change of direction at his size especially in the pro agility and broad jump. He showed off a quick first step in the live reps I watched consistently and was one that displayed developing pad-level. Max is a Wisconsin offensive linemen to watch his growth and upside develop in my eyes as the tape shows that this young man can surely hold his own and get into the second level quickly.     A 2028 that got on our radar at the end of the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp is one that we just saw a couple months ago at a Line of Scrimmage Camp which was Minnetonka offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='2034545' first='Lucas' last='Kendall']. Lucas showed off quick hands that fire quickly into the cusp into the defenisve linemen that also seems to not get rattled from a pad-level perspective. He's gotten in my eyes from Tuesday night, progressively more agile with his footwork and had more comfortability in pass-protection reps. He's a 2028 that I feel is tech sound with the attention to detail and could be a riser in that class from camp season as a couple good live exposure points always help prospects move the needle.     Blaine seems to be another hotbed in my notebook from the Minnesota Gophers Prosepct Camp on Tuesday night as 2027 cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1557071' first='Kingston' last='Jones'] cracked my radar. Boosted explosive numbers in the broad jump and in the 40-yard dash. We have him rated as a wide receiver in our 2027 MN class, but watching Kingston on Tuesday night you can see the transliation to cornerback when it comes to analyzing his footwork as again the explosive traits are there to continue to grow with this young man heading into summer camps.     Matthew is one that I have gotten a few exposure points on over the last year in live evals, and I thought his best one was Tuesday night. The 6'0 260 pounder from Buffalo, appeared more fluid and I thought his foot speed headed into his blocks were more sped up from my last live eval. I got to watch Matthew a bit during the testing period, and another area that I felt was the case was I feel Matthew has gained a stronger bend and lower center of gravity with watching his reps in Dinkytown. He's a well-versed pass blocker and that foot speed I noted, was noticable when watching his reps. He could be an interesting OL prospect for college programs, as his brother Ryan who's at NDSU is 6'4 so there's a good possibility that Matthew might not be done growing yet as something to keep in mind.     A 2027 watchlist name that I felt rose their stock at the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp is another one from the NW Metro in wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='2126672' first='Joseph' last='Jacobs'] out of Park Center. The 5'11 160 pounder boosted a 6'3 wingspan and was pretty well-rounded when it came to his 40-yard dash and his explosiveness we witnessed out of the broad jump in the testing period. The live reps are what impressed most with watching Joseph's reps. That long catch radius stood out in muliple reps I watched with even his best catch of the day right in front of me as he tip-toed along the edges and you could see full circle of his athlecisim he has. No offers yet for this young man, but he showed me that he has the skillsets to play on Saturdays.     The second name at the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp out of Woodbury this time out of Part 3 is 2027 wide receiver Shawn Rekowski. Shawn intrigued me in a couple of reps with how fluid of a route-runner he is from start to finish. He also showed off while finishing his routes balanced hands and a poised ball-tracking ability. He's got a lot of speed and explosiveness that surely showed in the testing period and shows why he has plenty of interest playing on Saturdays. The three sport athlete is still waiting on that first offer which surely should come here soon!   <a href="https://x.com/Shawn_Rekowski" id="https://x.com/Shawn_Rekowski">TWITTER</a>     Tim is one that I have taken a peek at his tape recently and was I looked forward to getting a live eval which I got last Tuesday at the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp. From my first look, I thought he's taken a stride forward with his athletic traits, by showing more fluidity especially when I watched the testing period with his pro agility. Another skillset that I felt Tim's grown into since fall season is his flexibility, as I felt he displayed a more persistent pad-level in the later reps I was able to watch on Tuesday night in Dinkytown. With that pad-level, I felt he was able to create more agile hands in the reps I got to watch. One that should have his first offer sooner rather than later.     Another Minnesota 2027 that has picked up his first offer ahead of camp season that struck a chord in the live eval for me on Tuesday night in Dinkytown, was Eastview's [player_tooltip player_id='1581395' first='Trey' last='Sanders']. Trey showed quickly that his length he has at his disposal from top to bottom can overwhelm a wide receiver for the long haul of deep and intermeidate routes. Trey also showed a well-versed presence in 1v1 coverage reps I watched as he has excellent ball-tracking skills that elevated his stock heading into more camps this summer. Surely another prospect on my Part 3 list that is deserving of more attention coming his way.     A 2027 quarterback I have heard a lot about from college coaches this spring into summer has been [player_tooltip player_id='1704256' first='Karsen' last='Herman'] and that was no different at the Minnesota Gophers Prospect Camp on Tuesday. He was one of the more towering quarterbacks in attendance from the early eye test and showed why it's not just the measurables that intrigue college coaches already. Karsen's grown quicker with his release to these eyes into summer camp season as a quarterback that the ball just flies out of his hand fluidily on intermediate and deep routes. The 6'4 200 pounder shouldd continue to show college coaches his athleticism he has out of the pocket at that size, as one that got his first D1 offer this week and I am sure will have more offers come his way over the coming month.     Gavin took home an MVP last summer at the SDSU Prospect Camp I was at so it sure didn't surprise me that he entered my ole prospect notebook again at the Minnnesota Prospect Camp on Tueseday night. It turned out to be a good night for Gavin, picking up two Division 2 offers from right here in Minnesota in the NSIC. Gavin might not be the biggest safety out the group last night, but this kid makes up for his size with his excellent football IQ and athletically has great range for his size. He's got even swifter in the straightline speed department as he looks like one that could be riser after camp season after his great start in Dinkytown on Tuesday. More coming for this young man.
