Blaine seems to be another hotbed in my notebook from the Minnesota Gophers Prosepct Camp on Tuesday night as 2027 cornerback Kingston Jones Kingston Jones 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Blaine | 2027 MN cracked my radar. Boosted explosive numbers in the broad jump and in the 40-yard dash. We have him rated as a wide receiver in our 2027 MN class, but watching Kingston on Tuesday night you can see the transliation to cornerback when it comes to analyzing his footwork as again the explosive traits are there to continue to grow with this young man heading into summer camps.

Not only was Blaine’s Kingston Jones Kingston Jones 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Blaine | 2027 MN maybe the swaggiest prospect in attendance, shoutout to his Dennis Rodman shirt and bright orange gloves, he was also an easy choice for a top performer nod. Jones was a playmaker on both sides of the ball, and he played with 100% speed and effort whistle to whistle, something that made him stand out from the crowd as well as catch the eye. He had a couple filthy releases from his WR spot and showed some bounce and 50/50 ball capability in contested catch situations as well. Plus, he had the speed to mirror and stay in the hip pocket of even the fastest WRs in attendance and didn’t mind playing with physicality from his CB spot. Blaine has some fun names coming up through their roster right now.

A 2027 receiver who teammates have spoken highly about, Jones is looking to start his junior year off by breaking out on varsity. Healed up after a leg injury last fall, Jones is a quick receiver who can stretch the field deep. He makes sharp cuts at the top of his routes and can reel in tightly contested passes while being tackled. He routinely takes big hits while bringing down passes and manages to secure the ball throughout the contact. Jones is a dynamic playmaker I can’t wait to see more of in the next couple of months.
