Twelve different guys have verbally committed to Power 4 programs. Quite a few others have pledged to FBS and FCS schools.   Even with those sizable numbers, a lot of talent from the state for the cycle remains in the board. The Situation: Reilly picked up a Buena Vista offer after visiting the school for a junior day in April. Cornell college also played host to him that month. He stopped at the University of Dubuque in March.   Developing Shaw has a quarterback makes sense. He flashes dual-threat ability behind center. It's a strong arm that can push the ball downfield and get it through tight windows. A step forward at the position this fall is likely. What makes Shaw even more attractive as a prospect is the athleticism he shows as a signal caller working at other spots if development there stalls.   [player_tooltip player_id='1941007' first='Zane' last='Mullenix'], RB-LB, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont   Announced offers: none.   The Situation: When watching Mullenix's<a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/26810421/69724c7082317f1e14979d2f" id="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/26810421/69724c7082317f1e14979d2f"> junior highlight video</a>, there's a prospect that could help colleges as a running back or linebacker. Of course, he's also a wrestling recruit, having recently visited Upper Iowa for that sport. Mullenix is a runner back that features speed and power. He sees the field well and is patient in letting the holes open up. On defense, Mullenix gets downhill in a hurry and arrives at the ball with bad intentions. His footwork and active hands translate well from the mat to the gridiron.   In football, he was invited to a junior day at Wartburg. Grand View and Buena Vista requested his attendance at camps. He could pick up more interest with a strong senior season.   Fiston Carlson, RB/ATH, Roland-Story   Announced offers: none.   The Situation: Carlson has been on the Prep Redzone Iowa radar for years. He showed us early on that he was a prospect of note. While he has continued reaffirming that status with us, colleges have been slow to catch on. That's despite him being an athletic running back with significant strength and a well-rounded skill set. Carlton possesses the agility and speed to switch positions should a program see a better path to success. He would help early on in his career as a special teams' contributor.   Dordt played host to Carlson for a junior day in early April. He'd been to one of its games in the fall. No knock on the Defenders, but this kid should have more college interest.   [player_tooltip player_id='1197447' first='Broedy' last='Hendricks'], LB/DL, Humboldt   Announced offers: none.   The Situation: Like Carlson, Hendricks has been a prospect of note at Prep Redzone Iowa for quite some time. He's a special athlete that reached 100 prep wrestling wins early in his junior season this past winter. Perhaps that's the sport he pursues on the next level. That said, he boasts considerable upside on the football field. He's an explosive and physical defender that could fit at linebacker or defensive line on the next level depending on scheme and how his body fills out in a college strength program. Hendricks is the type of kid that will dedicate himself to helping on special teams, too.   A second-team all-state defensive lineman last season, Grand View Football invited him to summer camp. He would do well to get in front of as many college coaches as possible and send his film to the others.   [player_tooltip player_id='2053760' first='Corban' last='Burford'], DE/LB, Wilton   Announced offers:    The Situation: Burford stood out early and often when I watched Wilton compete in the state semifinals last November at the UNI-Dome. He's a disruptive defender that is a handful coming off the edge thanks to burst and physicality. Burford's punch is impactful as he wins a lot of battles at the point of attack. Offensive linemen quickly get caught on their heels and his motor allows little chance for recovery. While defensive line very well could be his best spot in college, he has the athleticism and lateral quickness to work at linebacker in certain schemes.   Colleges have taken notice of Burford. Northwestern College became to first school to offer him an opportunity to play on the next level when it did so following a camp in the middle of May. He also visited Dubuque, Morningside, Dordt, Simpson, Upper Iowa, Central, Carroll and Grand View this year. He camped at Iowa in June.
