First look at some of MD/DC's ranked 2028 prospects - Pt. 3

In this article, I give my first impression of several Class of 2028 prospects from the state of Maryland and Washington, D.C. This is the first time I've had a chance to look at these prospects. All of these players have posted 2025 season highlight videos on their respective Hudl profile pages.    Not the biggest but he certainly is a versatile receiver who can line up at multipe wide receiver positions. Reed's highlights show that he can create mismatches with his quickness, ability to fake out defensive backs while running his routes, and catching the ball despite heavy contact. Reed is elusive and has short-area quickness. Reed is able to get seperation at times with his fakes (two plays that show that were a slant-and-go that ended up being an explsoive play and a stop-and-go that resulted in a touchdown). Highlights also show that he's a strong vertical and intermediate route threat. Explosive player who can make it happen from multiple positions, including as a punt returner. Won a few times against press coverage, solid releases off the line. Will need to contnue to focus on strength training and polishing his route running.     Simms is a quick and reliable wide receiver who thrives in the short-to-intermediate passing game. A perfect fit for the slot but versatile enough to line up on the outside as well. Has a quick-twitch release off the line and is a solid route runner whose able to make mid-route adjusments to exploit the defense. Simms' highlights include a 10-yard out, skinny post, 5-yard hitch, and a slant-and-go that show how effective he is with separating from the defender when he breaks. Lot of YAC in the highlights as well. Does a nice job of turning short passes into big gains. Another receive who would benefit from adding more strength and some weight to his frame.     Lanier has the prototypical size with long arms and a frame that could withstand some additional weight. He's a long strider who covers a lot of ground and eats cushions quickly. That's evident in his highlights where a few plays show defensive backs playing off him at least 6-7 plus yards. Not a burner, and at his size, don't really expect him to be. I would like to see if he's gotten a little bit more explosive off the line since the end of the 2022 season. Showed some polished route running on two plays that included a 10-12 yards comeback, a post, 10-yard out, and a bubble screen. There's another play where he does a good job of adjusting on a scramble play and catching a deep pass downfield for a big gain. In a way, I think he has deceptive speed. I think defenders underestimate how long Lanier's stride is at time. Has the makings of becoming a solid boundary receiver at the next level.     One word comes to mind after watching Wilson's highlights: ballhawk. The first 7 plays include five interceptiosn and two pass breakups from the safety position. Wilson lists himself at 165 pounds in his X (formerly Twitter) bio. Still undersized but his play on the field is big time if you ask me. Wilson is a natural playmaker with great instincts, range, and ball skills. He truly is a centerfielder for the defense and has a knack for reading quarterbacks and routes very well. There's several plays where he turns mistakes into interceptions. Would like to see him mix in some run-support highlights early in his reel. Wilson makes solid decisions when the ball is in the air. His highlights show him undercutting passes, high-pointing passes for breakups, and batting down balls. Wilson has the size of a cornerback, but as I mentioned, he's a natural at safety. He'll need to get stronger and put on some weight to have an even better shot at being recruited as a safety. The talent is certainly not the issue with Wilson.
