He has good speed and vision and does a nice job reading blocks as they develop. When the edge is there, he can bounce outside and has the burst to turn it into a home run play. He's not just a speed back either. He runs with some strength and isn't afraid to finish through contact when defenders meet him in the hole. He does a nice job sticking his foot in the ground and getting north and south without wasting movement. His frame looks capable of handling a larger workload, and he runs with the kind of physicality that wears on defenses over the course of a game. The opportunity is there for him this fall. He ran a laser-timed 4.8 in the 40-yard dash along with a 4.4 shuttle and 7.31 L-drill, showing elite speed and change-of-direction ability. The movement skills are obvious when you watch him play. He looks comfortable with the ball in his hands, can accelerate quickly, and has the athletic traits to create problems in space. He runs with good pad level, breaks tackles, and does a nice job keeping his feet moving through contact. He also has good speed and vision, allowing him to find running lanes and take advantage when they open up. He seems to get better as the game goes on, and he settles into a rhythm with more carries. Some backs need a few touches before they really get rolling, and Humfleet feels like one of those guys.
