Small School Offers for Big-Time Prospects

With the spring evaluation period in full swing, several prospects are landing small school offers from the Division II and Division III level. In today's transfer portal world, though, players can fly under the radar, dominate at the lower levels, hit the portal and become big-time Division I athletes. Here are four prospects who are finally generating noise, but just might garner more attention after they reach the next level.    [player_tooltip player_id='1793849' first='Owen' last='Scalf'] is starting to see his hard work pay off. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound quarterback picked up his first offer from Gannon University. Scalf is a highly-productive and proven dual-threat quarterback with a quick release, has a solid arm and can make plays with his legs. If he gets past the second level, he can be a home-run threat and runs his feet through contact effectively. Scalf had 5,638 total yards last season and 49 total touchdowns, finishing second in the country for total yards.     [player_tooltip player_id='2217650' first='Donzel' last='Newlun'] is a strong run-blocking offensive tackle who can drive his feet on contact, create vertical push at the second level, displays great latch/strike timing with his hands. At 6-foot-4, 305 pounds, he likely translates to guard at the next level. Very high-academic prospect out of Unioto High School who has a chance. West Virginia State is his first offer.     [player_tooltip player_id='2217651' first='Glen' last='Stotridge'] is a strong interior offensive guard who is really good in pass protection, based on tape. Stotridge can sustain rushers effectively, keep defenders between his feet, plays with a wide base and keeps his feet anchored into the ground. Displays good hand placement and strike timing in his punch. Class of 2027 lineman picked up his first offer from West Virginia State.     [player_tooltip player_id='2217654' first='Treyshawn' last='Quincy'] is a starting right tackle for Canton McKinley High School. Quincy, a Class of 2027 recruit, can sustain rushers in pass pro and uses his hands well to neutralize and create a pocket for the QB. As a run blocker he is tough and very physical. High-academic prospect who has picked up offers from Bluffton, Capital and Findlay over the past few weeks.
