New England: C/O 2029 Skill Analysis and Transfer Announcements

Several players from New England have declared their plans to transfer into the class of 2029. In this report, we will spotlight five of these players, providing a brief analysis of their highlight films from the 2025 season as we gear up for another ranking update later this spring for the class of 2029.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    After suiting up for the Epping/Newmarket co-op program in 2024 and playing for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, N.H., last season, [player_tooltip player_id='1529985' first='Anthony' last='Semprini'] will play for his third program in as many years when he takes the field for St. Mark's in the fall. Semprini has a good foundation for a young quarterback. He's mobile and can throw on the run, he has good footwork and he typically throws an accurate, catchable ball with good touch. He should be able to handle the step up in competition next season, and will only get better with added arm strength and as he improves his ability to read the field.      Zack Deschenes' decision to transfer from Nashoba Valley Technical School to Suffield Academy looks like a wise decision for two reasons: Deschenes wouldn't have much to prove if he remained at Nashoba Valley, as he was named the Commonweath Athletic Conference's Most Valuable Player last season, when he rushed for 1,692 yards and scored 20 touchdowns (21 rushing). In addition, his blend of strength and speed should allow him to excel against bigger and stronger defensive players he'll face in prep school. He's an effective runner both on the edge and between the tackles, and he will likely make an immediate impact at St. Mark's     [player_tooltip player_id='1329865' first='Syer' last='Copeland'] appears to be another player capable of making significant contributions at the prep school level next season. He played for Archbishop Williams last year, but has announced his intention to enroll at St. George's School in Middletown, R.I., for the 2026-27 school year. He's a compact runner who can pick up yards after contact, but his highlights show that he's also an above-average receiver capable of making big plays in the passing game. Copeland is also a standout on defense, where he has been used primarily as an outside linebacker. He's physical and is a good tackler. St. George's is getting a strong player on both sides of the ball.      Last March, [player_tooltip player_id='2087444' first='Garrett' last='Berube'] announced that he would be transferring from Westfield (Mass.) High School to Avon Old Farms, where he will continue to play both football and lacrosse. Berube had 23 receptions for 350 yards and four touchdowns for Westfield last season. His 6-foot-2 frame, large catch radius and solid fundamentals (route running, etc.) will force defenses to respect him next fall, when he should make an immediate impact in both sports. Look for his production on the football field to increase next season even with the bump up in level of competition.      When news broke that [player_tooltip player_id='1313726' first='Evan' last='Cameron'] was transferring from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley, Mass. to Cheshire (Conn.) Academy, it was definitely a big deal. Cameron is 6 foot-5 and 310 pounds, and that alone makes him an intriguing prospect. His size should allow him to handle the physicality of prep school football next season. His biggest challenge may be adapting to a new offense, since he played in a double-wing offense at Shephard Hill.
