Will had a great first season as the Badgers' feature back after recording 177 carries for 1,013 yards and 12 touchdowns, along with 15 receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown. When you look at Will, you see a running back who possesses a great blend of size, strength, and athleticism. Gutz starts his runs with great patience and vision, allowing him to follow his blocks while scanning the field for open lanes. Once he sees a crease, Will is able to use his top-tier burst to explode through the gap and can quickly accelerate to break away from defenses. He runs with a great balance, stemming from consistent pad level and a strong base, making him very difficult to bring down on first contact. Will's well-rounded skill set can see him go from shifting and gliding through defenses on one play to dragging a couple of defenders as he pumps his legs to fight for extra yards on the next. Great receiving back out of the backfield and a good nose for the endzone. Schools like Sioux Falls, Midland, Peru State, Southwest Minnesota State, and Wayne State have already offered the Badgers back, with likely many more to come.

(@WillSteffen2027)

Cedar Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1086046' first='Will' last='Steffen'] is a player who could be up for a solid bump in the next rankings update. Will was a starter in all three phases of the game for the Trojans as he starred at offensive tackle, defensive end, and long-snapper, and ended the year with a strong 40 tackles, nine TFLs, a sack, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick. Will played mostly as a 3-4 defensive end, but with his frame at 6'3" and 285 pounds, I could also see him being effective in a 4-3 scheme as an end or interior defender. He fires off the ball very well with a quick first step and has great "pop" in his hands that can stun blockers with his initial punch. Steffen's power and violent hands make it easy for him to disengage and continue pursuing the ball, making him very effective as a run blocker who can collapse run lanes. Nice lateral quickness and closing speed. On offense, Will plays with great leverage and balance in his base, which helps him walk back defenders or stand them up in their spot. His footwork and mobility also allow him to get out in space on screen plays or when lead-blocking downfield. Will earned his first offer from Dordt this month and should continue that momentum going into the summer camp cycle.

(@LoganKelly08)

Wahoo will have to reload after losing a very talented senior class, but will have prospects like [player_tooltip player_id='2110838' first='Logan' last='Kelly'] ready to step up. Logan had a great junior season as he helped the Warriors win back-to-back titles and tallied 61 tackles, 10 TFLs, two sacks, two interceptions (one pick-six), and a forced fumble. I don't have an official junior tape for Logan, but I was impressed with the reps I've seen from watching the Warriors. Logan is an interesting prospect who fits the mold of the modern "hybrid" defender, with the athleticism and instincts to drop back in coverage. He also has the frame at 6'2" and 200 pounds to be used as a "box" safety who can help fit the run effectively or bring pressure off the edge. Look forward to catching more of Logan this season!

(@Anderson251159)

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1700709' first='Anderson' last='Smelley'] returns as Sidney's trusty "road-grader" on the offensive line and enforcer in the trenches on defense. Anderson was a key two-way player for the C1 runner-up Red Raiders, recording 46 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, two sacks, and a fumble recovery. On offense, Anderson does a great job firing off the ball and maintaining proper leverage when engaged with defenders. He can keep his base low and has a powerful leg drive to move opponents off the ball. Solid lateral quickness to help build up momentum on pulling blocks, and can climb up to the second level with ease. Defensively, it seemed like Anderon wound up near the ball at all times, showing off his non-stop motor and pursuit. He excels as a run-stopper who can blow up blockers and disrupt run lanes, while doing an excellent job tracking and closing on the ball to prevent big runs. Good frame at 6'3" and 230 pounds with room to continue bulking up. Panhandle prospect with a ton of upside!

(@EthanNordby)

The Pierce Bluejays have a throwback thumper on their defense with returning senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1700727' first='Ethan' last='Nordby']. Ethan had a solid junior year in which he tallied 25 tackles, three TFLs, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. Ethan fits the mold of a next-level linebacker with great size at 6'2" and 215 pounds, along with a fiery mean streak that he brings coming off the edge. He has a quick first step and is able to generate enough momentum to help him barrel through blockers with a strong bull rush. Nordby also showed off his run-defense skills by anchoring down and holding the edge to shut down outside run lanes. Once he's disengaged from blockers, Ethan flashes good burst and lateral quickness that helps him pressure the QB or track down ball carriers. Effective when dropping back into coverage. We could also see Ethan take on a bigger role on offense, where he carried the ball 17 times for 146 yards and three touchdowns. With his size and strength, I can see Ethan being used as a "change of pace" back who can wear defenses down or come in to help block. Big time breakout candidate in Class C1!

Make sure to follow @PRZ_OscarG for more news on Nebraska and Iowa HS recruiting.
