With the amount of star athlete Pryors that have come out of Woodbine, it shouldn't come as a shock that another is set to take over as the Tigers starter this fall. Sitting behind Brody Pryor last season, [player_tooltip player_id='1358960' first='Cal' last='Pryor'] looks to be in line to take snaps under center in 2026.

Lucky for he and the TIgers, Cal has some experience already under his belt, and he showed some encouraging things, too. Between a few reps lined up at quarterback and others where he served as the passer in trick plays, Pryor showed the ability to launch it down field and in the intermediate passing game. He stands in the pocket tall and confident, ready to launch. On trick plays, he avoided the rush, stayed calm and delivered an accurate ball. He's one of the lucky expected starters that will have talent like [player_tooltip player_id='1197458' first='Landon' last='Blum'], [player_tooltip player_id='1207821' first='Micah' last='Moores'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1601655' first='Ayden' last='Coenen'] around him to help propel the Tigers to another successful season.

In his limited experience, Cal completed 26-of-32 passes (81.2%) for 430 yards, nine touchdowns and no picks.

Another small school quarterback taking over after an uber-productive year through the air, [player_tooltip player_id='1844225' first='Braden' last='Weig'] will step in for Peyton Welch at South Hardin.

A tall, lanky quarterback at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Weig commanded the JV offense last season for South Hardin, standing in the pocket and delivering some rockets in the passing game. Stepping up in the pocket to avoid pressure and firing passes down field with an effortless throwing motion, Weig puts some nice touch on throws and isn't afraid to look for the deep shot. He has the look of a QB that will step up as a junior and handle business for the Tigers in the fall.

Last season, Weig completed 15-of-30 passes (50%) for 138 yards and a score on varsity, but his tape looks much better than his stats did in limited action.

A senior last season, Brett McGovern had one of the better performances from a Waterloo West quarterback in recent memory. [player_tooltip player_id='2195089' first='Cole' last='Dean'] is up next for the WaHawks. Dean, like the others, isn't exactly a lock to be Wests' starter in the fall, but watching his JV tape, he looks a lot like McGovern, which could absolutely help his chances.

He's not the smoothest athlete in the world, but Dean makes smart decisions in the read-option game, knowing when to pull the ball and take it himself. When he does take it, Dean's long, bounding strides give him a chance to pull off a breakaway run from the defense. As a passer, he thrives on the move and can deliver strikes through the air when he finds an open receiver.

Another prospect that will have to take over for one of the best QBs in recent history at his school, [player_tooltip player_id='2202669' first='Kolt' last='Miller'] will see what he can do to continue the winning was at Central Dewitt following the departure of Hudson Krukow.

Seeing him move on tape, Miller looks physically ready for the varsity level. A tall, solid quarterback that has the look of being able to break a tackle or two while throwing a dart to his intended targets. One of those targets through the air will be [player_tooltip player_id='1850786' first='Jameson' last='Gregoire'], one of the most productive returning receivers in the state.

On varsity last year, Miller completed 9-of-14 passes for 82 yards and a score.

A Kyler Murray-type quarterback that isn't as tall as most other gunslingers, Kasen Tyler will be an interesting one to watch next fall for Decorah. A slippery runner with the ball in his hands, Tyler isn't easy to bring down and can quickly escape from a collapsing pocket or a crew of would-be tacklers thanks to his low center of gravity.

As a passer, Tyler doesn't get happy feet in the pocket, despite his smaller stature, standing confidently and ready to sling it when he sees an open receiver. Able to get air under the ball when he sees a receiver open on a go-route or a corner route, Tyler can still get the ball over the defense and into the waiting arms of a receiver.
