2028 WR Stock-Risers

We just dropped our updated 2028 rankings, and we're working on our stock-risers content by looking at the backfields. We added 75 new players, which makes it difficult for previously-ranked players to move up. But these five players did. After going <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/behind-the-scenes-of-the-2028-rankings-spring/">behind the scenes</a> of the 2028 class update, we're looking at the seven wide receivers who moved up in our receivers.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2028 WR Stock-Risers</h2>    Grena didn't have many catches in Cary's run-heavy system, but he made quite the impact when he was targeted. Four of his 11 catches went for touchdowns, and he showed excellent body control and catch radius to get to balls a lot of other receivers can't. As he continues to develop, look for him to improve as a pure receiver, because the physical tools are there.     It's rare that a guy plays as both a kicker and kick returner, but that fact is just a microcosm of the unique skill set Rodriguez brings to the table. The rising junior has a big leg and was the state's top deep threat, statistically speaking. He averaged nearly 40 yards per catch, converting seven of his 14 catches to touchdowns. While his future might end up being as a kicker, we love his upside as a receiver and returner.     Caldwell continues to fly under the radar despite both physical ability and past production. He runs well, and at 6'3", his catch radius is excellent. He was the second-leading receiver on a balanced passing offense, and with another offseason together, that group should be even better in 2026.     After catching 30 passes for nearly 500 yards at Independence last season, Milton transferred to Grimsley, where he'll have the chance to crack the rotation in an established passing offense. Milton has size, speed, and route-running ability. Milton has the talent to break out on one of the best teams in the state.     Skyes was one of the top deep ball receivers in the state, and every time we see him, we come away more impressed. I'd like to see him put on a few more pounds, but the speed and nuance with his route-running, especially deep, make him an excellent college prospect.     Hutchens showed out at our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/prz-exposure-camp-wr-analysis/">Prep Redzone Exposure Camp</a>, as the top-ranked player in attendance. More than anything, I was impressed with his route-running and body control, both of which meant that he was seemingly always open. He combines that with elite speed and a great release package that make his the total package at receiver.     Grimes has an elite physical profile, at 6'4" with a 40 time in the 4.5s. He split targets with multiple other top receivers at West Forsyth, and his raw numbers could tick up a bit if he develops a new rapport with his new quarterback. Grimes still has plenty of room to grow when it comes to the nuance of releases and routes, so there's a chance he becomes an elite receiver prospect.
