I recently wrote that Xavier looks like a grown man physically, compared to when I last saw him in person just a few months ago. He’s definitely bigger than what we have him listed as here – he’s easily up to 6’3 and probably around 190 pounds. Xavier is really excelling in winning balls at the vertical apex in one-on-one coverage, and his long strides are gaining separation on downfield routes against defensive backs. I think he will have a strong camp here.

Hutchens showed out at our Prep Redzone Exposure Camp, as the top-ranked player in attendance. More than anything, I was impressed with his route-running and body control, both of which meant that he was seemingly always open. He combines that with elite speed and a great release package that make his the total package at receiver.

Xavier is a player I’ve seen up close on a couple of occasions, and seeing him physically progress into a Division 1 wide receiver prospect over his first two years has been a fun thing to watch. As Xavier has grown physically, he’s done a great job of focusing on his fundamentals and tying it together with his excellent physical talent. His route running is fluid, and he has consistent hands plucking the football out of the air. Xavier does a really good job making contested catches in 1 on 1 coverage, and has a ton of upside he hasn’t reached just yet. College football programs are taking notice, with Xavier picking up his first two Division 1 offers from Boston College and East Carolina respectively. This will be a big summer from a camps and recruiting perspective, and I’m excited to see the next step in Xavier’s progression in his career.

Hutchens has size, speed, and elite ability at the catch point. He’s a hands catcher who rarely drops passes and shows unbelievable strength on contested catches. This season, he added some weight and improved his release package. At this rate, he’s going to be a truly elite prospect by the time he graduates.

We have seen Xavier excel at previous CFI events, and this one was no different. You can see that Xavier is on the cusp of really breaking out into being a special “X” type of receiver on the outside. Xavier has the hands, speed, and physical frame to be a Division 1 football player as long as he keeps progressing at the rate he is currently.

Hutchens rocketed up our board after a huge outing at the CFI Showcase in May. Hutchens’ big frame and impressive long speed allow him to both create space and make catches when covered. The upside here is tantalizing and he’s already made some plays as a freshman. His size and frame make him a candidate to have a huge sophomore season and beyond.
