2028 Edge Rusher Stock-Risers

We just dropped our updated 2028 rankings, and we're working on our stock-risers content by looking at the backfields. We added 75 new players, which makes it difficult for previously-ranked players to move up. That being said, the edge rusher position is loaded and has some momentum, with 25% of the total stock-risers in this update. There's a difference in being a high-upside player and a truly elite college prospect, especially at the edge position, though. Cruickshank cleared that bar for us during this cycle, and we're not alone. It seems like every Power Four team in the country jumped at the opportunity to offer him this spring.     Johnson made a huge impact when he was in the game last season, and his stock has soared as he's put on weight. He was a <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/10/2028-edge-dl-new-additions-midseason-update/">midseason rankings debutant</a> who thrived as the season progressed. This offseason, he's continued to get bigger and stronger, which, like several of the other edge stock-risers in this class, gives him a more complete profile.     St. Pauls has one of the top defensive lines in the state, so Richardson can sometimes fly under the radar. Nobody can accuse us of not being high on the edge defender, though, as we catapulted the rising junior into the top 25, up 53 spots. As the calendar hit May, Richardson's recruitment took off. He now boasts offers from several SEC schools.     Womack moved from Terry Sanford in Fayetteville to perennial powerhouse Hough, and it says a lot about his talent that we expect him to earn plenty of playing time this fall. He's already added some weight this offseason, and with his frame and get-off, he's an obvious riser, moving up 43 spots this update.     Dow hit our radar just before the last rankings update, and since February, we've gotten to see him a few times. He moves around the formation quite a bit for Robinson, but my colleague Matt Morrow got to see him up close as a true edge at his <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/best-defensive-linemen-cfi-mega-showcase/">CFI Showcase</a>. His bend and explosive capabilities are just two of the reasons FBS teams are falling in love with his talent.     Jarrett's upside is seemingly limitless, given his height, bend, and explosive qualities. He's still learning the nuances of the position, but anytime a guy has a 6-foot-5 frame and a sub-4.6 40 time, you know there's something to work with.
