We're continuing our Triad Deep Dives series, where we rank the top players in Forysth and Guilford Counties. Last week, we covered 58 offensive players between the two counties, with full evaluations on over 45 of them, and then we broke down some impressive edge rushers on Monday. Let's move on by evaluating the top six interior defensive linemen in Forsyth County.

Hyman has some of the best raw power and aggression you'll find. He can push pockets with ease, crashing the running game and providing interior pass rush, despite being a bit undersized. He's still raw, without a secondary pass-rushing move, but his bull rush is elite, and he'll develop into a top pass rusher in time. The tools are there, and he's a candidate to continue to climb the rankings.

Simmons made his full-time varsity debut as a sophomore, and he did not disappoint. He racked up eight tackles for loss and four sacks as an undersized 3-technique. He's able to make that work because of his strength and length. If he gets into the body of an offensive lineman, he's shown consistent ability to control the line of scrimmage and throw more than a few of them around with his massive strength.

Most of Atkins' defensive front is undersized, so they'll often move Barringer around to provide size and create mismatches. He's a fiery run-stuffer who can both eat up space and make splash plays. That's evidenced by his five forced fumbles last season, one of the best marks in the state. He's a big, powerful dude with plenty of leg drive as a two-way player. They also put him at running back in short-yardage situations, and he scored a rushing touchdown as a sophomore. As he transfers to West Forsyth, I'm interested in how he'll be used.

Martin is an edge rusher at the next level, but RJ Reynolds plays a lot of odd fronts, and he often functions as a 3-4 defensive end who is asked to crash and play like a space-eater in the running game, so we've ranked him here. His length, strength, and get-off are all excellent, and give him fairly high upside. If he can reach his potential as a senior, he could put up some huge numbers as a key defender for the Demons.

Blayney displayed plenty of raw power as a nose tackle, even when he was smaller. Now that he's added some more weight, he looks even more at home in the center of the defense. He's a high-effort player with plenty of initial quickness, as well as the relentlessness to finish plays.

Imes plays some on the edge, but he's best as an interior defender who can stuff the run and provide occasional pass rush. He's a high-motor player who did most of his damage as a pass rusher on his second or even third move. Even as a defensive lineman, he never takes plays off, and he frequently makes tackles far from his original alignment.
