Going through our senior receiver class during these off-season months, this might be one of the best ever crop of pass catchers we have had in the Volunteer State. It's talented at the top. The middle part has some sleepers and I see depth within this class that might get better as we go through summer camps and into the 2026 season. Overall, this looks like a stacked position that might prove to be the best offensive group of all within our TN2027 class.

Top Tier Talent

- We have several prospects competing for the top receiver spot this year but many scouts, including myself, would put Brentwood Academy senior [player_tooltip player_id='378855' first='Kesean' last='Bowman'] at the top of the board right now. The Eagles pass catcher is a natural that displays an excellent combination of athleticism, ball skills, competitive balance and big play abilities that translate to the next level and potentially beyond. Bowman does need to continue getting bigger but the upside is very real.

Lausanne receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1556594' first='Lawrence' last='Britt'] is dripping with potential and has yet to reach his maximum capabilities. This guy's raw athleticism and ability to separate is what has big time programs in hot pursuit. Britt is a playmaker that does need more time getting bigger while learning the route tree but the talent is in place to become a game changer on the next level. Another Memphis area receiver oozing with talent is Collierville senior [player_tooltip player_id='1285495' first='Tae' last='Walden, Jr']. Sporting height and length along with the ability to separate, Walden is a big play threat waiting to happen that runs well while displaying outstanding ball skills, especially against physicality.

Moving to Riverdale to play his senior year, senior wideout [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor'] is a physical specimen that can do just about everything on the football field. Standing 6 '3 200 plus pounds, Oduor is a true “X” or”Y” receiver that plays well through contact while showing an excellent vertical that stands out in the red zone. He may also be the best blocking wide receiver we have in this year's class. Oduor is a high character young man too that should be an outstanding addition to anyone's locker room.

Possibly the top slot prospect we have in this year's class could be Brentwood Academy senior [player_tooltip player_id='1118087' first='Eli' last='Ferguson']. Speedy and sudden with his breaks, the Eagles pass catcher is tough to handle due to his quick feet and ability to get on top of the defense. Ferguson is a tad undersized but he plays much bigger while having a nice physical body that allows him to make receptions among contact. His teammate in [player_tooltip player_id='1410131' first='Lexton' last='Baskin'] is considered a top slot option as well. This Brentwood Academy senior is a versatile guy that could work outside or in the slot while also providing upside on special teams.

Some of the best long term potential in this class resides with [player_tooltip player_id='817933' first='Jamir' last='Dean']. Holding several Power Four offers in hand, this Alcoa senior wideout shows some of the best separating speed on film that allows him to get on top of the defense then he uses his natural athleticism and ball skills to make spectacular plays. The Tornadoes pass catcher does need more time to develop but I love the raw talent here and his potential on the college stage.

Committing recently to Florida State, speedster [player_tooltip player_id='1577095' first='Dayon' last='Cooper'] is a big play waiting to happen that simply needs the ball in his hands to make something happen. This South Pitt senior could be used in a variety of ways, meaning you can work him on the outside or in the slot. Cooper needs more work with his route tree but the explosive traits are in place to become a big time playmaker down in Tallahassee.

One guy that has moved himself into the “top tier” category during these off-season months is Notre Dame senior [player_tooltip player_id='1103039' first='Jacorrion' last='Tramble']. Well built physically with the look of a future “X” or “Y” receiver in college, Tramble is a big bodied guy that is hard to bring down once he gets into open space. The Fighting Irish wideout shows improved speed on film that has helped boost his stock where several Power Four programs are in pursuit.

Two guys that are definitely D1 prospects that are on the fringe of becoming Power Four players are [player_tooltip player_id='1708407' first='Zi' last='Jackson'] from Powell and Pearl Cohn senior [player_tooltip player_id='1608413' first='Stephen' last='Saulter']. Stepping forward with a productive junior year last year at Powell, Jackson could be one of the fastest receivers in the state that would be a great option in the slot. He is undersized with height and weight but Jackson is a dangerous weapon once he gets into open space.

Saulter is a true outside receiver and power forward style pass catcher that does well at using his physical frame to outmuscle his opponents and come down with the catch. He uses his upper body very well at shielding off the defender and staying between him and the ball. The Firebirds senior does need to continue getting faster while gaining more agility but if college coaches want a red zone threat with blocking upside, Saulter may be your guy.

Fringe P4/D1 Talent, Definite FCS Level Prospects

- This section shows a large group of receivers that are talented but in need of further development, however they aren't far away and could be on the verge of breaking through into a higher profile prospect with continued gridiron work. The first two guys that come to mind that meet this criteria are [player_tooltip player_id='1691433' first='Carter' last='Kilburg'] from MBA and Melrose senior [player_tooltip player_id='1103458' first='Tavarco' last='Jackson'].

Both these guys are big bodied outside receivers that display good ball skills and physical game play that translate well to the college game but with enhanced agility and speed, Kilburg and Jackson could develop into go-to, first option targets. Kilburg might have some of the best hands in the state along with outstanding upside as a red zone threat while Jackson is a natural athlete that has formed into his body nicely which makes him difficult to bring down in the open field.

Besides those two above, we have a big group of outside style receivers in this class that show potential to compete on the D1 stage with further development. Some of the top names to know about from this section would be [player_tooltip player_id='1708624' first='Micah' last='Sally'] (Centennial), [player_tooltip player_id='2158318' first='Noel' last='Meza-Flores'] (Eagleton), [player_tooltip player_id='1629937' first='Kaden' last='Webber'] (GCA), [player_tooltip player_id='2170108' first='Grant' last='West'] (Dyer Co.) and [player_tooltip player_id='1663276' first='George' last='Mabury'] from Independence.

Sally has a chance to breakout this Fall as the Cougars top receiving target. He stands 6'4 185 pounds with good arm length and the ability to go up and snatch the ball away from defenders. Meza-Flores is someone I am high on due to his physical prowess and upside as a big play guy on the outside. The Royals senior wideout runs better than some may think but if he can increase his agility and explosion, I could see Meza-Flores competing on the D1, possible Power Four stage one day.

Going into the off-season, Webber had some work to do to push himself to new levels and I think he has done so. The Rams wideout recently clocked a 4.53 forty, which his speed was something he needed to improve to potentially become a D1 prospect and it appears he is working towards that direction. West is a small town prospect that brings traits to the field that should be appealing to college coaches. He is tall and long with a wide radius and deceptive speed that pops on film. I definitely think West is flying under the radar and worthy of bigger looks. Mabury is still coming into his own and forming his body but he brings great size to the gridiron along with outstanding ball skills and speed that can be enhanced over time.

If college coaches are looking for slot options, our senior class has a bevy of talented playmakers that fit the bill. Several guys here are under the radar or lacking ideal size but skilled playmakers that have to upside to vastly improve under college teaching. Some of those options to know in this year's class are [player_tooltip player_id='1617382' first='Ryan' last='Lyons'] (Gordonsville), [player_tooltip player_id='933063' first='Kaden' last='Grigsby'] (Nash. Christian), [player_tooltip player_id='2169306' first='Jadyn' last='Dehart'] (Hardin Valley), [player_tooltip player_id='903953' first='Jones' last='Merrill'] (Brentwood), [player_tooltip player_id='1865126' first='Desean' last='Brown'] (Southwind), [player_tooltip player_id='1677444' first='Colton' last='Foust'] (Maryville), [player_tooltip player_id='1393974' first='Ethan' last='Farhat'] (Farragut) and [player_tooltip player_id='906618' first='Levi' last='Isen'] out of Ensworth.

Lyons may be one of the bigger hidden gems we have from the TN2028 class. He has been overlooked throughout his high school career but his film shows a speedy playmaker that gets into open space quickly along with excellent ball skills that could be utilized in a variety of ways. Holding a few offers in hand already, Grigsby is a winner that knows how to get the job done while doing so from multiple areas on the field. His game fits best in college in the slot where he can use his strong hands, strength and speed to win while also being a key piece on special teams.

Dehart is starting to gain some steam on the recruiting scene and by looking at his film, I can see why. The Hawks senior wideout runs well, showing explosive flashes along with having a physical frame that could make things difficult for opponents to tackle. One of the better route runners in this class looks to be Merrill. The Bruins senior receiver is quick footed with the ability to separate at the top of his break while displaying outstanding ball skills. Some of those same traits can be found in Brown as well. Last year at Southwind, Brown had to be a backup, a secondary option but this year he could break out into one of the fastest slots in the state.

If you're looking for another potential breakthrough senior this Fall, it could be Faust. This Maryville pass catcher is fast in the open field that displays separating speed on film and the ability to make tough receptions among physical contact. Farhat is someone that has been on my radar for two years and though his Admirals team struggled last year, this senior receiver still showed improvement in a variety of areas. His calling card is his speed and ability to accelerate after the reception. Yet to really make his mark at Ensworth, Isen is someone to keep track of in the next few months as he shows on film athletic upside that could flourish on the college level.

Talented, Developmental Prospects

- Depth begins to show up in this section and where I think makes the TN2027 receiving class one of the best offensive units in the state. I see some players here that I believe can become FCS, maybe even D1 pass catchers one day but will need time to develop and grow into their bodies. What you will see here is a nice mix of athleticism, size and speed along with some unknowns that are very talented but needing further coaching.

Along with others mentioned above, we have plenty of wideouts this cycle that bring great size to the field, including [player_tooltip player_id='2138257' first='Grayson' last='Degraff'] from Franklin-Grace, [player_tooltip player_id='2170189' first='Jimarious' last='Douglas'] out of Jackson Central-Merry, [player_tooltip player_id='2170008' first='Benson' last='Hensley'] from Cumberland Gap and Germantown senior [player_tooltip player_id='1675680' first='La'Quan' last='Higginbottom']. All four of these have the physical look wanted in the college game along with upside to develop nicely on the next level.

DeGraff is a sneaky good athlete that runs well for his size while sporting excellent hands and the ability to excel against physical contact. Douglas is someone I am bullish on as I see a strong, physical performer that runs hard after the catch while presenting upside as a red zone threat. You don't find too many legit prospects from the Cumberland Gap football program but Hensley can play and I think his best football days are ahead of him. Higginbottom doesn't realize how good he can be. The Red Devils senior is a physical pass catcher with strong hands that can become more appealing with enhanced explosion and speed.

#TN2027 Wide Receiver Database

We talked about slot options in the prior section but this area has a few as well, especially several guys that run well and bring big play threats to the football field. This next group of slot receivers are honestly under the radar prospects that I think have a chance at working their way into FCS status and maybe the D1 level somewhere down the road.

Those names to know would include [player_tooltip player_id='2146264' first='Heath' last='Vinett'] (Goodpasture), [player_tooltip player_id='2170010' first='Clint' last='Quick'] (Lincoln Co.), [player_tooltip player_id='2141286' first='Griffin' last='Gagliano'] (CPA), [player_tooltip player_id='1568969' first='Warner' last='Hart'] (MBA), [player_tooltip player_id='1732521' first='Ethan' last='Bryant'] (Heritage) and [player_tooltip player_id='1586188' first='Brayden' last='Sharpe'] from Anderson County. All six of these senior receivers are players I like and think have upside that can be flushed out on the next level, especially if all six hit the weight room harder while enhancing their overall athletic skill sets.

Vinett is a talented young man that could flourish at receiver or safety but I personally like his upside best on offense in the slot. His quickness, speed and good footwork can be tools that help him excel in college and become a mismatch problem for linebackers and safeties. If Quick played at a bigger program, you might be hearing more about him headed into camp season. His last name speaks towards what he does on the field and that's to move with quickness in and out of his breaks while displaying outstanding ball skills.

We don't have official film on Gagliano but through my scouting, I see a quick footed slot guy that runs good routes and the ability to consistently get open. I'm expecting a bigger role for the Lions wideout this Fall where he could boost his stock significantly. Hart is a track guy, so his speed is his calling card. His game and upside fits very well in the slot where he can get on top of defenders and be a deep threat while also having upside as a return man.

Bryant may have one of the best verticals and some of the best hands in this class but his explosion and speed may be what is holding back his recruitment. If the Mountaineers receiver can enhance those two areas, Bryant would increase his stock and gain more recruiting traction. I'm expecting a bigger role and more production this season from Sharpe as his junior film and off-season work shows someone primed for a big year. The Mavs senior is faster than quick but displays good routes along with the ability to separate from the opposition.

Three small school, small town pass catchers to keep track of this Fall are [player_tooltip player_id='2140012' first='Drake' last='Frazier'] from McMinn Co., [player_tooltip player_id='1580800' first='Jordan' last='Hunt'] out of Chester Co. and Gatlinburg-Pittman senior [player_tooltip player_id='2148269' first='Jackson' last='Savarese']. Both Frazier and Savarese are slot guys that have quick feet and display the speed to find open space on a consistent basis. Hunt brings solid size to the field with a body that can get much bigger. He also has good arm length and big hands that could help him develop into a strong red zone threat.

MUS senior [player_tooltip player_id='1666739' first='John' last='Painter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1597007' first='J.J.' last='Sackie'] from Knox. Central are two outside receivers that have college size and the physicality to excel against contact. Both need to increase their explosion and speed but have good ball skills that can be utilized well on the next level. New to Oak Ridge this Fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1646491' first='Branson' last='Newberry'] has produced well so far through his school career due to his speed and solid route running. Playing for the Wildcats this season might provide him a bigger role, boost his production as well as his college stock.

Rounding out this section are three slot receivers that are still coming into their own but have abilities that could translate to the collegiate gridiron. These seniors would be [player_tooltip player_id='1608559' first='Kadyn' last='Page'] from Stone Memorial, [player_tooltip player_id='1694328' first='Kyle' last='Aldridge'] out of Melrose and [player_tooltip player_id='1646051' first='Rome' last='Duncan'] from Franklin-Grace. Page returns this Fall as one of the more productive receivers in the state. He is a sure handed pass catcher that does well against contact but if he increases his quickness and overall speed, more coaches would start looking his way.

Last year with the Golden Wildcats, Aldridge played a secondary role and did well when his number was called but I'm expecting a bigger role this Fall where he could be the team's top slot option. Duncan is still learning his position but his natural athletic abilities speak towards a potential breakout year with the Lions that would certainly help his college profile. Both these guys are long term potential prospects that could develop into productive college slot receivers down the road.

Overall, I like the potential of this year's receivers and what they could bring on the next level. We have some potential stars at the top along with some talented under the radar prospects that might prove to be highly productive ball players one day. The depth is good as well. I'm expecting several guys that may be ranked lower than others to breakout this season and become wanted receivers on the recruiting trail. It will be interesting to see how this group progresses this Fall but it certainly will be fun to watch.
