Nine of the Highest Debuts in our 2028 SD Rankings

These are prospects that went from not on our radar at all to in our top-tier in this South Dakota 2028 class that just came out on on Friday. A new RB1, one of the states top athletes and linebackers, plenty of upside, and more!    Jude debuts as our ATH2 in the 2028 class and has a great opportunity to develop even higher in this class. It doesn't take long to see why he is one the top athletes in South Dakota, as that athleticism pops out very quickly as route-runner in the Chargers receiving core as Jude has the burst to beat the corner with the speed he showed off at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase last time. He's also very twitchy with his lateral movement and gets down to the ball carrier quickly as a defensive back. The now 6'0 175 pounder is one that plays with a chip on his shoulder and surely is one that plays above his measurables with his football IQ.     Jerren came out of nowhere for the Govs in his sophomore season and it ended at the Dakota Dome with another 11AA title for Pierre T.F. Riggs. He showed off the position flexibility that could be there for him at the next-level as the 6'1 170 pounder started his season at wide receiver that impresses with his seperation and imprivisng ability as a route runner that can adjust on the fly. He's got quicker as the season went on with his release on intermediate routes as that was evident watching him the state champiosnhip game. He enters as one of our highest QB debuts as our QB6 in the class that we expect to level higher very soon.     Tanner was a wide receiver that got on our radar in this 2028 SD class from his performance at recent Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase. The 6'0 160 pounder from O'Gorman, finished in our top-tier at our showcase amongst the WR group. He'll show you on tape the twitch and quick seperation ability he can get at the top of his route which is why I feel he's a top 50 overall prospect that could grow higher into this 2028 class. He boosts great hands for his age thru contact and that was something I recall from his performance in Aberdeen as well, as a WR that shows the mix of change of direction and speed you want in your WR room. Surely a 2028 to watch for the Knights in the 2026 season.     Coming in as our WR7 in the class and a newcomer to our 2028 rankings is another athlete from Sioux Falls Christian, in [player_tooltip player_id='1597642' first='Jesse' last='Witte']. The 6'3 180 pounder strikes quickly to show off his vision he has in the open field as something persistent that I see with Jesse on tape, is his great football IQ he has for his age, which tells me he could be another future stockriser out of this group of highest debuts. He's fluid as a route-runner especially at the top of his route and another wide receiver in this group that appears to have big hands that can work that can finish thru contact and high traffic areas. Surely one that I hope to see at camps this summer to get a live eval for and see what the college coaches see as well.   <a href="https://x.com/JesseWitte16" id="https://x.com/JesseWitte16">TWITTER</a>     There is not a position group that impresses me more in this 2028 SD class than the linebacker group, as another newcomer that is a high debut is [player_tooltip player_id='2159875' first='Cooper' last='Veld'] of Brandon Valley. It's been well-noted that we really like the Lynx 2028 class, as Cooper is one of their top prospects in it on our board. I love this kid's motor when you roll the tape as it's evident on just about every rep you watch. He's also a highly physical tackler and might be one of the most physical in this class. The 6'2 190 pounder surely has time to fill out his frame, but surely is a linebacker I like the idea of moving up a few LB spots in the upcoming.     Our new WR3 in the 2028 South Dakota class, is a small school prospect that not a lot of folks know about yet, as we introduce [player_tooltip player_id='2138939' first='David' last='Walter'] from Freeman to the class. He's the biggest bodied wide receiver we have in this class at 6'5 200 pounds, that even when corners give him a 8-10 yard cushion, he shows you right away on tape that he can blow by them on a go-route with ease and adjust to the throw on the fly. David has Big hands, big catch radius and those hands are strong in higher traffic areas. He's one of the best 9-man prospects probably in the entire Dakotas in my eyes, and should surely get some eyes and attention of college coaches at camps this summer.     One of the highest debuts positionally that jumped up to our RB1 in the 2028 South Dakota class is yet another Brandon Valley athlete in running back [player_tooltip player_id='2159871' first='Ryder' last='Mueller']. The 5'11 175 pounder is quite durable for his size when running thru contact, but also brings patient vision that trends well on inside and outside runs to the edges. Ryder is yet another Brandon Valley running back recently that I feel has well-versed change of direction in their backfield as there's plenty of elusive movement you can gauge on his reps from his sophomore season. Surely going to be one that should be a gamechanger in the Lynx backfield in the coming couple of years.     <a href="https://x.com/Conner_Christ33" id="https://x.com/Conner_Christ33">TWITTER</a>   I swear there is geuinely something in the water in Watertown that recently has been producing some monster offensive and defensive linemen, and in this 2028 class, they have our second highest debut in [player_tooltip player_id='2045699' first='Conner' last='Christianson']. The 6'3 295 pounder, has a lot of evident power and strength in his hands and he's fluid getting off blocks with his get off at defensive tackle. It almost looks unfair when watching Conner against a double team as he's a people mover that has great pad-level and efficency as a run-stopper as well. He also has long arms and great timing in the run game. He's one I could surely see entering our top 10 by next update.     Last but not least, we take a look at our highest debut, not just in South Dakota but the entire Dakotas with the release of our 2028 rankings, as that highest debut came from West Central's [player_tooltip player_id='2054941' first='Tanner' last='Wagner']. He took TE MVP I will admit out of nowhere at our last Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase and is one that college coaches need to get on board with ASAP in my eyes at the D1 level. He constanlty will win the 1v1 battles thru contact and that has been consistent from when the 2025 season started till now. He has the best hands amongst 2028 tight ends in the entire Dakotas and shows off the poise to get yards after the catch in tight windows. I've even had conversations that there is plenty of upside in the defensive trenches which would intrigue me to see more of at camps this summer.
