Spring ball gets underway in Indiana next week, and for the better part of a month, Hoosier State high school teams will be hitting the field for the first time since the conclusion of last year. We'll be on the road, checking out so many of the state's top players in-person, some for the first time.

For the next couple of days, I'll break down some players I'm looking forward to seeing the most.

We should be at Lawrence North on Monday night, and Prather could be the prospect I'm looking forward to seeing the most. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound quarterback has something to prove in 2026. We know he's a dynamic dual-threat, but does he have the arm to get the job done at a Power 4 level? I saw him at a basketball game and he definitely has the speed and juice with his legs. He threw for 1,600 yards and rushed for 740 yards, with 23 total touchdowns, last fall, and has earned offers from Toledo and Ohio.

I have just one previous viewing of Coellner and that was during the team's loss to Louisville Trinity last season. I'm anxious to see how the 6-foot-0, 190-pound defensive back with elite ball skills and hard-hitting athletic ability has grown and improved over the offseason. He recorded 72 total tackles, four interceptions, three touchdowns and eight pass breakups last year and is looking to build on those numbers in 2026.

For a number of reasons, so many Indiana high school quarterbacks have struggled to pan out once they've reached the college level. Could Center Grove quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='826779' first='Oscar' last='Sloan'] be different? The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Trojan has the chance with his quick release, strong arm and immense upside, already holding 11 Division I offers. Center Grove does not have spring practice, but he is someone I'm planning to see either over the summer or at a throwing session with Anthony Morelli.

The staff at Avon is really fired up about Avon High School tailback Josh Tate, another Class of 2029 prospect with huge upside and one they feel will get plenty of varsity action. Tate has outstanding contact balance, strong change-of-direction, and the athleticism to be a legit threat in the passing game. Tate has a big-time chance to become a star this fall. I should see him on Thursday next week.
