The Class of 2028 is shaping up to be a great one here in Nebraska, with a few players already earning their first offers and several more establishing themselves as stars. Below are a few players that I think are set to take off this fall!

The Jr Jays' defensive line should not miss a step next season as they return key members like sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1590726' first='Gavin' last='Trapp']. Gavin was disruptive on the interior defensive line, tallying 27 tackles, 5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. What stands out about Gavin is that he isn't necessarily this massive defender; instead, he shows he can win with his natural strength and violent streak. He plays with great pop out of his stance while maintaining good pad level and leverage while engaged with defenders. Trapp uses his hands very well with great power to stun opponents on initial contact and the placement to win the inside leverage battle. He can also use his hands to swim and rip through blockers in order to disengage. Tireless motor and non-stop pursuit keep him closing on the ball from snap through the whistle. Great tackler at the point of contact.

Rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1591351' first='Micah' last='Benning'] brought a familiar name back to the Phelps Stadium speakers after a breakout year for the Westside Warriors. Micah got on the field right away, starting from game one and ending the year with 35 tackles and three TFLs. The biggest thing that has stood out from watching Micah is the level of physicality he plays with at the cornerback position. He has shown he is strong enough to jam receivers, has the ball skills to challenge at the catch point, and will fight off perimeter blocks to make stops in the run game. Micah has a solid frame at 6'1" and 190 pounds with good length and can use every bit of it to deliver a big hit. Good instincts in coverage with the smooth change of direction to stay with receivers throughout their route. He can track the ball very well and can play through the receiver's hands to ensure the breakup, resulting in 10 PBUs on the year. High football IQ. Tons of upside here... should see college attention sooner rather than later.

The Norris Titans have their fair share of solid-looking offensive line prospects in the upcoming recruiting cycles, one being sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2064479' first='Jalen' last='Koehn']. Jalen was a key blocker for one of the top offenses in Class B, starting at left guard. Jalen possesses the size that should translate well to the next level at 6'4" and 240 pounds, with room to continue filling out his frame in the upcoming years. Jalen stood out on film with his physicality right from the snap all the way through the whistle. He is quick to shoot out of his stance and make powerful initial contact with his opponent. Once Koehn makes contact, he has the strength in his base to drive defenders off the line and force them into the ground. Jalen moves very well as he can easily climb up to the second level to seal off LBs. Good use of leverage and power in his hips. Mean mauler who should make waves on the recruiting trail when programs catch wind.

Millard West's [player_tooltip player_id='1338209' first='Zaylen' last='Rachow'] is a player who is set for a big comeback season after missing seven games due to injury. Because of Zaylen's injury, he had a small sample size in terms of reps, but has still shown enough from previous showcases and camps. Zaylen is a great hands receiver who does a great job using his big mitts and strong concentration to follow the ball through the catch. He runs clean routes and has shown he can create separation at the top of the route. Rachow has a solid frame with good length at 6'1" and 175 pounds with the strength to fight off physical DBs. Watch for a breakout season from Zaylen in 2026!

Lincoln Southwest's [player_tooltip player_id='2129274' first='Cam' last='Rakowsky'] was a nice surprise in this round of updates after producing great film and solid production as a sophomore. Cam ended the year with 42 carries, 204 rushing yards, 151 receiving yards, a rushing touchdown, and a receiving touchdown. Cam was an exciting player to watch on tape as he flashed his shifty running style and playmaking ability with the ball in his hands. Rakowsky really impressed with how twitchy he is as a runner, showing he can make quick, subtle cuts to evade defenders in tight quarters, which is guided by his clean footwork. He sees the field very well and does a great job following his blocks as they get set up in front of him. Good speed that can help him win to the corner. Cam is also flashed as a receiver out of the backfield. Lots to like with this Silver Hawks back!
