The North Vikings will have a great core of returning players ready to take them over the hump this fall, including incoming senior [player_tooltip player_id='487729' first='Jayden' last='Cannon']. Jayden joined the Vikings last season and quickly made himself a staple on the defense with 52 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and a forced fumble. Cannon projects as a versatile defender who can play safety or linebacker with his ability to be used in coverage, in the slot, and as a box defender. He has the size at 6'1" and 190 pounds to be physical with receivers at the LOS and catch point while also being stout against the run. Jayden really stands out as a downhill defender who can explosively shoot his gaps and is a great tackler when he meets the ball carrier in the hole. Cannon knows how to use his hands to disengage from defenders at the line of scrimmage and is quick to jump back in pursuit mode. Sure tackler in the open field. Jayden is a solid defender who can make an impact from multiple spots on the field!

I'll stick to the secondary with Bennington's [player_tooltip player_id='2110884' first='Owen' last='Vernon'] who caught my attention while watching the Badgers in person. Playing safety, Owen recorded 49 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, and two interceptions. Vernon possesses a well-rounded skillset as a safety prospect who can defend the pass and run very well. He plays with a quick trigger and explosive first step that allows him to get downhill to help fill gaps against the run. Owen tackles well in the open field, using great technique and power to ensure the stop. When in coverage, Owen can flip his hips and change direction fluidily and has the instincts to read offenses and get to a position to make a play. His length and size (6'2" and 190 pounds) help him make plays at the catch point, using his full reach to get his hands up for PBUs. Good overall athlete who should take another big step now that he has a full season of experience!

Lincoln Lutheran's [player_tooltip player_id='1297181' first='Josiah' last='Nsoh'] is a player starting to gain some traction on the recruiting trail after a great season. Nsoh was highly productive on the Warrior's defensive line with 62 tackles, three TFLs, a sack, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. Josiah stood out playing defensive tackle where he does a great job being disruptive by clogging up interior lanes, but could also move over to defensive end. He plays with great leverage getting off the ball and attacks with a powerful punch that can overwhelm blockers. He is violent with his hands to help him disengage from blockers. Nsoh possesses a powerful base that allows him to force blockers off the line. Once he's spilled into the backfield, Josiah shows the motor and quickness to close on the ball carrier. Great run stopper.

(@PeytonSteuer)

Talk about making a statement! Crete's [player_tooltip player_id='1870065' first='Peyton' last='Steuer'] had a monster season in which he finished top six in the state in receiving yards. In total, Steuer hauled in 64 catches for 1,020 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games. We don't have a ton of tape from Peyton's junior year, but from what I've seen, Peyton flashes as a versatile receiver who can contribute at all levels of the field. He has the wheels and explosiveness off the ball to stretch defenses vertically. He can also use his sharp route running to work the short and intermediate areas of the field to help move the chains in key moments. He can use his strong 6'1" 185 pound frame to make tough, contested catches. Definitely someone I am hoping to see more of this offseason!

(@AJ_McCormack77)

Ralston's [player_tooltip player_id='1818752' first='AJ' last='McCormack'] will be back as one of the bookend tackles on the Ram's offensive line. AJ quietly had a great junior season in which he didn't allow a sack and flashed as both a pass blocker and in the run game. He played right tackle for Ralston, but looks like he should be able to slide to guard at the collegiate level. My biggest takeaway from watching AJ's tape is that he loves to finish his blocks and will look to drop his opponent in the dirt. He is quick to get off the ball and looks for work right away while displaying the lateral quickness and instincts to pick up blitzes and free rushers in a flash. AJ uses his hands very well and has shown to be difficult to disengage from as a defender. He plays with good bend in his hips which allows him to maintain consistent pad level through his reps. AJ should also be a key defender for the Rams after contributing 14 tackles, a safety, and a blocked kick on the DL last season. Great OL prospect who has shown consistent development in his prep career.
