. Jayden joined the Vikings last season and quickly made himself a staple on the defense with 52 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and a forced fumble. Cannon projects as a versatile defender who can play safety or linebacker with his ability to be used in coverage, in the slot, and as a box defender. He has the size at 6’1″ and 190 pounds to be physical with receivers at the LOS and catch point while also being stout against the run. Jayden really stands out as a downhill defender who can explosively shoot his gaps and is a great tackler when he meets the ball carrier in the hole. Cannon knows how to use his hands to disengage from defenders at the line of scrimmage and is quick to jump back in pursuit mode. Sure tackler in the open field. Jayden is a solid defender who can make an impact from multiple spots on the field!

It’s hard to find many defensive backs who play with a linebacker’s mentality, which is the case with Creighton Prep’s

. Jayden is one of the few select Prep players who were moved up to varsity as freshmen where he gave us glimpses of the high-level player he can be. The thing that stands out the most about Jayden is his physicality and aggressiveness. Jayden displays great instincts when reading his keys and flashes a quick break on the ball with solid closing speed. Once Jayden gets to the ball, he’s proven to be a secure tackler who uses great technique and has the power to drive ball carriers back. Along with getting downhill quickly, Jayden also showed good sideline-to-sideline range. Jayden flashes good hands and is aggressive when the ball is in the air, always looking to make a play on it himself. Good nose for the ball— 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 2 blocked kicks. Watching Jayden’s tape, I was reminded of another high-flying DB who just graduated from Creighton Prep… very good company to be with.

Jayden is a hard-nosed running back coming out of the state of Nebraska. One of the things that immediately jumps out to me as part of Jayden’s game is ability to find running lanes. When he is carrying the ball, Jayden stays patient and allows the play to develop in front of him before making a decision on where to go with the ball. Jayden is also a very physical runner who does not shy away from contact, nor does he go down easily. When Jayden is working his way to the end zone, he has no problem running through defenders to get to where he needs to go. Lastly, Jayden is incredibly athletic and has no problem making moves on defenders to get around them. Overall, Jayden has plethora of tools that allow him to be great as running back and I am excited to watch his career develop in the future.
