Sooner State Shootout: 2031-2033 Weekend Standouts

He made several plays on both sides of the ball. At receiver, he was the go to guy in big moments. Hodshire was not afraid to catch the ball over the middle and used his speed well after the catch. Defensively, he took away the middle of the field. Hodshire reeled in multiple interceptions throughout the weekend. The tall, lengthy, and strong athlete was a matchup nightmare all weekend. Beisel played both sides of the ball, but what stood out was is tight end like ability to catch the ball with only his hands. Beisel used his size very well to reel in multiple catches for touchdowns this weekend. One of the other highlights Beisel displayed was his attitude. This young gunslinger made quick decisions. For a 5th grader he showed great poise, accuracy, and arm strength. The Missouri QB will only get better from here. When his team was behind the chains and needed a big play, Hubbard stayed calm, made his reads and delivered the ball accurately, giving his receivers chances to make plays. Quickly, he showed why he was so confident. He is a shut down DB who would travel with some of the best receivers on the opposing teams. Dennie was physical off the line in press coverage but flipped his hips well and used his speed to blanket offensive players consistently. Dennie reel in a big interception in tournament play Sunday to help his team advance. His footwork put him in rhythm to make quick reads and accurate throws. Smith's greatest attribute was his quick processing skills in tough moments. Smith was one of the more consistent Qb's I've seen for his age in while. Smith's ability to push the ball into tight windows and trust his receivers was impressive to watch. Culliver was able to do it all. He would line up defensively in the middle of the field making it difficult for QB's to throw over him. The lengthy athlete was able to shut down crossing routes in the middle of the field. Offensively, Culliver showed his ball tracking skills and aggressiveness by going up and over defenders to make explosive plays.
