Next in this series, I'll discuss Division II-AA quarterbacks. Here's a scouting report of my top five signal callers in DII-AA.

2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1037302' first='Thomas' last='Heffner'] – Lausanne Collegiate School

[player_tooltip player_id='1037302' first='Thomas' last='Heffner'] was a breakout player this past season. He stepped in at Melrose and was one of the best quarterbacks in Tennessee. Across 12 games in 2025, he recorded 2,517 total yards with 40 touchdowns to just five interceptions.

He's a dual-threat guy who uses his legs well and does not force anything. Heffner is certainly a pass-first QB, but he has the wheels to outrun anyone on the field. The 2028 prospect possesses good size, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds in a filled-out frame that allows him to take contact, even dishing it out at times.

Heffner is a relatively polished passer with impressive arm talent, capable of making nearly every throw on the field thanks to his touch and accuracy. The rising junior also has good pocket skills and a high football IQ.

2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1037670' first='Jack' last='Nimitz'] – Franklin Road Academy

[player_tooltip player_id='1037670' first='Jack' last='Nimitz'] started 2025 on the bench but was put in at halftime against BGA in a midseason clash, where he impressed. The 2028 prospect never gave the job back and went on to record 2,534 total yards with 32 touchdowns in eight games.

I like what he offers in the passing game, as he's shown the ability to make throws all over the field. But my favorite part of Nimitz's game is his scrambling. The rising junior is incredibly athletic, with sneaky speed that allows him to evade defenders, either buying time for a pass or picking up yardage.

He needs to clean up some things, but Nimitz is a talented player who could be on many postseason award ballots next season.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1535798' first='Connor' last='Jenne'] – Silverdale Baptist Academy

Silverdale's [player_tooltip player_id='1535798' first='Connor' last='Jenne'] may be the most underrated quarterback in Tennessee. He's produced with the Seahawks, but doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves. In 12 games played last season, he threw for 2,218 yards with 32 total touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

While his turnover count is higher than you'd like, he's gotten better every year of high school and has been training with DGA Flight Squad 7v7 this offseason. Being with that group should elevate his game, as he's been put in spots that will challenge and develop him.

He has good size for the position, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 195 pounds with a nice frame and plenty of arm talent. Jenne can make just about every throw on the field, shows good pocket awareness, puts nice touch on his passes and is improving his decision-making skills.

That last one is the missing piece to the puzzle. If Jenne improves on that and cuts down interception numbers, watch out.

2027 Bo Bryan – Battle Ground Academy

Bo Bryan was the backup last season for Battle Ground Academy, but is likely to step up as the team's starting quarterback for the 2026 season.

As a junior, he attempted just 44 passes for 336 yards with five scores and three interceptions. He has solid size for a high school quarterback, standing 6-foot and weighing 180 pounds, with a frame that allows him to play physical football.

I wouldn't necessarily classify him as a dual-threat, but Bryan has a little bit of wiggle that gives Bobby Bentley some options in the QB run game. The 2027 prospect has solid arm talent. It's nothing crazy, but he's capable of making big throws, even on the run or off balance.

Bryan runs the BGA system well and takes what the defense gives him, but he does have a big-play threat. The rising senior will likely be a solid player who can help the Wildcats win another state championship.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1292341' first='Corbin' last='Hobson'] – Grace Christian Academy (Knoxville)

[player_tooltip player_id='1292341' first='Corbin' last='Hobson'] transferred in from Farragut, where he was a solid quarterback for the Admirals. In 11 games last season, he threw for 1,628 yards with 16 total touchdowns and five interceptions. He's not the most flashy name, but he has some good tools that give him the potential to be one of the best players in his classification

The rising senior is an excellent distributor and does a nice job of using his athleticism to make off-balance plays. Hobson has a big arm with nice touch and accuracy, allowing him to complete deep throws consistently. He's also relatively mobile and can take off if necessary, even though the numbers don't show it.

I really like this addition for Grace Christian (Knox). They already have a star tailback in Abajeon Stinson, but now, they have a legit quarterback to pair with the 1,400-yard rusher. He will have several good receivers at his disposal, including 2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1629937' first='Kaden' last='Webber'], who is one of the best deep threats in Division II-AA.
