Rising Underclassmen: Next Wave of NorCal Prospects

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">NorCal's underclassmen continue to emerge, with a new wave of prospects beginning to stand out. Showing flashes of athleticism, growth, and on-field impact, these young players are quickly gaining attention and positioning themselves as names to watch in the coming years.</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Hunt possesses all the key traits of a major D1 prospect on either side of the line. 6'5” 250 lbs. with a 79 inch wingspan, he's got good weight distribution in his frame and ideal length. Outstanding athlete at his size with natural movement skills, bend, and initial quickness off the ball. Well coached, he plays with good leverage and hand usage on both sides of the ball to control opponents and win at the POA. Demonstrates great balance and footwork at the contact point staying inside of his frame to maximize strength and not give up ground. In pass protection, he's quick into his kick step and shows he can match movement with good foot speed and lateral agility. He's a fluid mover with good long speed. Shows he can open his hips and run in transition without losing speed to stay in phase when carrying receivers deep. Athleticism and change of direction allow him to plant and drive to break on routes and cover ground quickly. Demonstrates good ball tracking ability and timing to contest throws and force receivers to make plays in traffic. Does a great job recovering and closing separation to break up passes at the catch point or limit yards after the catch. Recruitment kicked off with an offer from Sacramento State and is one to watch entering his junior year.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">High caliber attacking LB that plays with urgency, physicality, and a playmaking mindset. 6'0” 190 lbs. he shows an explosive first step, triggering quickly at the snap and shooting gaps before blockers can react. Displays outstanding closing speed and initiates contact with heavy force to be effective both inside the box and in pursuit. Can navigate traffic with quick lateral movement or use violent hands to take on blockers and shed to disengage. Excels as a blitzer that can make a ton of plays at or behind the LOS showing timing and burst to penetrate and disrupt the backfield before the play can develop. Plays with a high motor and competitive edge, constantly around the ball and impacting the play. Early offers from San Diego State and Cal, he projects as one of the top northern California LB's in the 2029 class.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Elzey demonstrated great potential as freshman on varsity and just recently earned his first offer from Nevada. 5'10” 170 lbs. with a skillset build around his speed and quick twitch ability. He shows high level short area explosiveness hitting top speed in just a few strides and accelerating through running lanes to break into space. Flashes lateral quickness and change of direction, allowing him to make sharp cuts without gearing down. His footwork is sudden and efficient to force defenders off balance and be elusive in tight spaces. Dangerous in space with the ability to turn small gains into game breaking plays. A natural football player that flashes savvy athleticism with plus body control and coordination. At DB, he shows good route recognition and anticipation skills to run the route with receivers and stay attached throughout the play. Closes separation with good recovery speed and instincts to create positional leverage. At WR, he's a creative route runner that sells his routes with good timing and usage of moves while also mixing up tempo to get open. On both sides, he demonstrates high level ball skills with the ability to adjust and make difficult grabs look routine. Earned his initial college offer from Southern University and possesses a strong skillset to build on.</p>
