*Use code "jackson30" for 30% off your PRZ subscription*

Football in Cherokee County is blue collar, hard-nosed, old school, whatever you want to call it. Players from this county have always played hard, played all the different sports, and make for physical football players at the next level. Here are some rising junior breakout candidates.

Hearn is still creeping onto the radar. Cherokee will have to replace a 1300 yard rusher from last fall, making Hearn a prime breakout candidate. The flashes from last fall are evident on tape. As he fills out, he will continue to become a box checker physically. Patient runner who stays squared to running lanes. He is quick to his top gear and has the foot speed to create his own yards. He runs hard through contact as well. If you project his flashes out to an entire season, there's good reason to believe Hearn can emerge as one of the most productive rushers in this county.

Barnes was thrown into the fire early last year due to some injuries. Regardless, he took things in stride and was mostly efficient through his 42 passing attempts. Still developing and tightening up his mechanics, but he flashes impressive touch down the field, and can layer the ball over LBs, too. Perfectly capable arm talent to push the ball vertically, and he will give his receivers a chance to make a play. Uses his athleticism mostly to extend plays, and he will take on contact in the pocket, too. Barnes is in line to start for Creekview this fall, making him a breakout candidate when you factor in his future growth.

Creekview's two leading receivers last fall were seniors, leaving the door open for some breakout candidates. Van Alstyne has flashed and is worthy of a mention. Multi-sport athlete with athletic indicators from basketball. At 6'0, he can jump out of the gym, as showcased with tomahawk dunks. Spotty production as a sophomore, but he had some exciting flashes. He is explosive off the line and cuts through cushion. He isn't afraid to get physical, both in his routes and as a blocker. He should get more opportunities to play the ball in the air, which will add more context to the athlete here.

Creekview has an impressive track record of sending DBs to the college level, and Theroux could be next along that line. A bit of a chess piece in the secondary who will probably project out more as a safety/nickel. His foot speed helps him match releases and carry routes vertically, but he is best when coming downhill. He is patient while diagnosing, quickly keys, and closes space in a hurry. The basis of intrigue here is the athlete. Theroux jumped a wicked 6'6'' in the HJ last week, and it's still early in the T/F season. With proper buzz here, Theroux should generate some recruiting attention, all things considered.

Marshall totaled 25 solo tackles, 1 INT, and 10 PBUs as a sophomore, so while his "breakout season" might've already come, he still is worthy of more attention and exposure. Big fan of the traits here. He is a lean, thin 6'0 175 with room to add more mass. He is a long, proper strider who covers a lot of ground. He plays really hard, straining hard to make a play on the ball in the air. He rallies hard after the football, too. Marshall flashes athletically and plays with a lot of energy. Can confidently say he is one of the best players in Cherokee County that nobody is talking about.

Vigna, who doubles as a baseball prospect, was all over the field last fall for Woodstock. Vigna is stout, strong, and spends most of his time in the box. At his size, a future home off the ball is likely, at least long-term. Vigna is explosive downhill and has a hot motor, closing space quickly and pursuing the ball around the field. He rallies hard against blockers, and his experience consistently having to free himself will only benefit his future growth. A rock-solid player who plays how the best players in this region have always played.
