Another year, another Centennial Cougars defensive lineman draped in mystery! Following in the footsteps of [player_tooltip player_id='1255130' first='Josh' last='O'Shea'], a 2026 DL who PRZMN heard nothing but glowing things about yet couldn't find a lick of information about, the 2027 evolution of this seems to be 6'2, 235 lber. [player_tooltip player_id='2126657' first='Owen' last='Carter']. Sadly, the only film available is an 8-yard sack vs. Shakopee, and Centennial doesn't keep stats on MNFootballHub for the defensive side of the ball, so all I know is the kid is reportedly big, and oh yeah, he's also a stud thrower for the Cougars' T&F squad. I'm sure you've heard us go on and on regarding OL and DL, track and field numbers, and projected success at the next level, and Carter fits the bill. Carter popped off a 45'2" shot put and a 159'9' discus, the latter of which earned him All-State honors in the discus, as he placed 6th in Class AAA in the 2025 Outdoor MN track & field state championships last summer. Carter has taken unofficials to Minnesota State-Mankato and Minnesota-Duluth on track & field visits this spring, so it looks like he's thinking about throwing in college, but you never know what could happen when the right football offer comes along! Owen: update your film, please!

A big, physical, exciting EDGE prospect out of the always-talented Chaska Hawks program, [player_tooltip player_id='2113380' first='Carter' last='Powers'] has a serious chance of climbing the rankings this 2026 offseason. With a solid showing during the 2025 Summer Camp SZN, Powers transitioned to a strong year with the 7-3 Hawks, as he proved himself to be one of the better tacklers in the state in terms of EDGE and OLB prospects. With good size and explosiveness in his game, Powers can get downhill, close quickly, and tackle well in space. He's an effective edge and flat defender who is versatile in both run and pass defense, in large part due to his prowess as a 1v1 tackler, and does a good job of melting into his zone drops and passing off threats, communicating properly, and finding work under the correct assumption that if someone leaves, another threat is generally coming in. Plus, there's production as a blitzer on his junior tape as well. NSIC schools should be on notice!

Every year, every cycle, Minnesota produces no more than a handful of Outstate monsters whose size, potential, physicality, and preposterous proportions simply cannot be ignored by PRZMN and college coaches alike. One of 2027's latest renditions of this consistent trend is Pine River-Backus' Dom Rach, a hulking 6'7, 300 lber. built like a vending machine who PRZMN was lucky enough to catch at the inaugural LineofScrimmage x Trench Mobb 5v5 Tryouts from earlier this winter. Boy does this kid have some God-given physical traits, and sometimes as expected with small school OL, he was raw in pass protection, but keep in mind he was also going against an absolutely stacked collection of DL talent that included almost half-a-dozen D1-offerees. Welcome to the big leagues, Dom! However, the kid handled the pressure well and showed off some noticeable foot speed, length, physicality, and coachability, so he has all of the makings in the world to be a road-grader and lockdown OT at the next level.

On tape, Rach shows some exciting COD ability and balance in space when working and climbing to the next level, and he's a crushing finisher when he gets good interior hand position on a defender. Rach has experience at both tackle spots, has lateral agility all over his junior tape, and does a good job of staying engaged with a DL and running his feet post-contact. Going to be a huge offseason for Rach in terms of where he'll end up at the next level.

A personal favorite of PRZMN with some of the most exciting film in the class, Orono's [player_tooltip player_id='1939588' first='Lucas' last='La Belle'] may be the hardest hitter in Minnesota's 2027 class. Boy oh boy, does this kid lay the wood! The Spartans' nickel was an integral part of Orono's first-ever Class 4A state championship this past season, finishing the season with a team-high 98 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1 sack, and 1 FF, helping his home team to a 10-3 2025 season that saw the Spartans beat Kasson-Mantorville 21-14 in the Class 4A state title game at U.S. Bank Stadium. The game prior, in the OT, walk-off victory over Marshall in the Class 4A state semifinal, La Belle exploded for a game-high 17 tackles, 8 of which were solo, and many of those hits were absolute bone-crushers to boot.

La Belle opens his tape with a beast of 1v1 tackler, coming downhill off only a couple of steps of momentum and man-on-man sticking a RB right in the hole, getting up and under him, and planting him backwards on a 4th and 3 in what looked like a serious momentum-shifter for his defense. The second hit of his tape looks like an AI collision (it's obviously not) it was so violent and the ball-carrier pin-balled off his shoulder pads so forcefully, and La Belle was still hammering opponents a few minutes into his highlight tape. The 180 lber. reads and sifts through traffic smoothly and generally unimpeded, and his violene at the contact point means you really want to get a hat on this guy before he finds your RB. He's also a quick blitzer, forced a couple fumbles, and picked off a pass in 2025, proving he's a three-down defender and playmaker from his nickel spot. BSU made an excellent move in offering La Belle early. His ranking is only going up!

Delano has had some fun prospects the past few cycles of recruitment here in Minnesota, and PRZMN is especially interested in the returning beef the Tigers have in 2026. One of these new names-to-know and recent debutants is LG [player_tooltip player_id='2128334' first='Brennen' last='Bratsch'], who just had his size and measurables verified at UWEC's Futures Camp in February, clocking in at 6'3.75", 271.4 lbs. with a 6'6" wingspan and a 9.5" hand. The left guard possesses good leg drive that can put DL on skates as he backs them downfield in the run defense, and Bratsch can send smaller defenders flying when he locks out and extends his arms. The Delano product does some trapping and moving for Delano along the OL, quite efficiently I may add, and he plays through the whistle and looks noticeably difficult to disengage from on an opponent's perspective. Plus, he's a stone wall in pass pro on his junior tape with a good base, heavy hands, and toughness at the point of attack. Always is looking for a physical finish as well. Get him on your boards now!

A Class AAA cornerback with great size for the position, 6'2, 160 lb. Montevideo junior [player_tooltip player_id='2126660' first='Collin' last='Day'] picked off 3 passes in 2025, catching the eye of PRZMN due to their timeliness as well as the fact that it came on a 0-9 season.

Day shows off top-end speed to stay on top of WRs going vertical, ball skills on either side of the ball, and is smooth in his back pedal and when zone-turning. He made some tough, contested catches as a receiver in 2025 and will come up and support the run from his DB spot as well. Not a ton of tape available but Day is also a hooper with Montevideo and seems like he'd be an excellent fit for the MIAC or UMAC or general DIII ranks.

It's been refreshing see Deer River - population ~ 900 - continuing to find prospects on our PRZMN Big Boards over the cycles. The Warriors have a athletic, big-bodied pass-catcher in their 2027 class in 6'4, 185 lber. Tyler Latvala, who has been generating some serious DII and NAIA interest this offseason thanks to that frame, 6'5" wingspan, 220 lb. bench, and 290 lb. squat.

Latvala nearly took a kick back for six in 2025 to highlight some explosiveness, multi-phase utility, and vision, and throughout his reps as a WR this past fall he did a good job of getting open at the top of the route. Plus, Latvala displays a big catch radius and strong hands that can pluck the ball out of the air and away from his body. Plus, the frame could grow, pack on, and add some serious mass and muscle to it, especially in a college S&C program, so make sure you add Latvala to your recruiting boards this cycle.

Northfield had a very fun roster in 2025. The Raiders, a 4A competitor in the 507, had size, dynamic ability, and explosiveness in droves last season, and they return a lot of talent for this fall, including 6'5, 200 lber. [player_tooltip player_id='2126701' first='Tyler' last='Holz']. A TE/EDGE/DE combo, Holz is also a solid hooper for Northfield, coming in ranked 189th in the state on PrepHoops and their 2027 class, and Holz's game on the gridiron isn't a slouch either, as he was a playmaker on both sides of the ball and spent a decent amount of time in opponent's backfields in 2025 from his DE spot. The 200 lber. melted beautifully into the lane of a screen for a near pick-six against Rochester Century, closes quickly from his DE spot, and is overall an effective edge defender who attacks blockers and tacklers with proper pursuit leverage. Holz displays burst and physicality after the catch and showed he can create separation and beat DBs in a foot race as a route runner, as well as win 1v1 assignments against DEs as a run blocker for Northfield's offense. Lots to like on this versatile resume from a rangy, lean, long 507 product.

Blaine has a diverse and intriguing array of 2027 talent in their rising senior class, including some serious muscle in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Bengals were well represented at December's PRZMN Showcase at the Brooklyn Park Dome, with two of their beefier juniors making their way for the competition, notably OL [player_tooltip player_id='2078599' first='Carter' last='Kopp']. The verified 6'5, 230+ lber. has been busy this offseason, visiting UMAC heavyweight Northwestern (St. Paul) and earning a junior day invite from MSU-Moorhead, so expect him to make the rounds for junior days and eventual prospect camps when the time comes this offseason.

The RT demonstrates lateral agility that helps him reach, box out, and out-position DEs when setting the edge for his offense and their run game. He's raw in his pass set, but does have some pop in his hands and can easily wash out smaller DL on down blocks, and Kopp displays some movement ability and can find work in the open field at his size. I like the physicality at the contact point overall too. Watch out for Blaine in 2026!

St. Louis Park had a strong linebacking corps in 2025, a position group that pushed them all the way to the Class 5A, Section 5 semifinal, where they lost to Minneapolis Southwest 21-14. The Orioles return one of their stronger pieces from 2025 in ILB [player_tooltip player_id='1397433' first='Liam' last='Novak'], who finished last fall with 63 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1 FF, helping him earn the nod and selection for captain for the 2026 season.

Novak is one tough customer as a tackler at the contact point and a thumper of a tackler. His defensive range and play speed shows up on tape, and once he sees and identifies the threat you can really see him accelerate and fly into contact full-throttle, as well as cover ground in pursuit of the football and its ball carrier. Novak comes downhill in a hurry and fires out of his breaks and shows clean, concise, rapid COD ability. Can't wait to see how Novak performs this summer on the camp circuit!
