Franklin/Nash/Wilson County QB Deep Dive

You may also know that we've never covered any of the counties east of Raleigh in our Deep Dives series, namely Franklin, Nash, and Wilson. This year, we're adding these three football-rich counties to the Deep Dive rotation. First up, which quarterbacks lead the way in Franklin, Nash, and Wilson Counties?   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top 5 QBs in Franklin/Nash/Wilson County</h2>   Editor's Note: The ranked quarterbacks are listed in order from first to fifth. Rankings reflect predicted 2026 impact.    As good as Harris was last season, it's tight at the top of this county ranking. Still, Hunt's star quarterback reigns supreme, thanks largely to his legs. Harris ran for over 1,300 yards last year while leading Hunt to the 5A State Championship. The Warriors get a ton back, none bigger than Harris, who will look to continue to grow as a passer, to go with his dynamic athleticism.     From a college-ready perspective, Finch is the most polished passer in the area, and he put up fantastic numbers last year to boot. He's highly accurate and has plenty of zip on the ball. One thing that he probably doesn't get enough credit for is his ability to extend plays and then make smart decisions about whether to throw or scramble. He's physically ready for the next level, at 6'3" with ample athleticism.     A standout, multisport athlete, Rice is a basketball sharpshooter who may actually be better on the hardcourt (He's shooting 37% from deep this year). But he's also a talented quarterback, throwing for 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2025. He throws with excellent anticipation and touch, but also has a strong arm, and the ball jumps out of his hand.     Battle is one of a couple of guys on this list who may have a future in a sport other than football, but that doesn't mean that he isn't a force on the gridiron. The two-way baseball player didn't throw a ton of passes last year in Southern Nash's two-back, run-heavy system, but he averaged 20 yards a throw. He makes quick reads and doesn't hesitate, both as a passer and in the option and RPO games.     Battle hasn't yet been a full-time starter for Rocky Mount, but the Gryphons may rely on him after losing plenty of talent. Battle threw for almost 300 yards last season while playing in parts of seven games. He has some wheels, too, and he's from one of the big football families of Nash County. A coach's son, he's a high-I.Q. player who could lead the Gryphons to a deep playoff run, if he earns the starting job. For now, he's on our watchlist, but he could move up if he takes over and plays to his potential.    Make sure we don't miss anyone.
