Battle hasn’t yet been a full-time starter for Rocky Mount, but the Gryphons may rely on him after losing plenty of talent. Battle threw for almost 300 yards last season while playing in parts of seven games. He has some wheels, too, and he’s from one of the big football families of Nash County. A coach’s son, he’s a high-I.Q. player who could lead the Gryphons to a deep playoff run, if he earns the starting job. For now, he’s on our watchlist, but he could move up if he takes over and plays to his potential.
