Our biggest quarterback stock-riser of the update, Rice moved up 244 spots in the rankings. Earlier in the season, I previewed why he’d move up, so I won’t necessarily rehash that here. What remains true is that Rice has developed from an off-platform gun-slinger at Bunn to a disciplined, on-time dropback passer with Franklinton, and he’s firing on all cylinders right now.
Rice has checked every box in his development this season. Since moving over from Bunn, the 6’3″ pocket passer has improved his processing, decision-making, and accuracy as a senior. Those were all question marks coming into the year, but he’s largely answered those early this year. Expect him to earn a massive rankings bump this update.
Last year at Bunn, Rice flashed excellent ball placement and touch. After transferring to Franklinton in the offseason, he’s shown strong command of the offense and a willingness to push the ball downfield. His accuracy and poise are noticeably improved, and he’s thriving as one of the state’s top pocket passers. I like his footwork, especially for a taller player, and he’s calm in the pocket, something you can’t always say about high schoolers.
A standout, multisport athlete, Rice is a basketball sharpshooter who may actually be better on the hardcourt (He’s shooting 37% from deep this year). But he’s also a talented quarterback, throwing for 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2025. He throws with excellent anticipation and touch, but also has a strong arm, and the ball jumps out of his hand.
