Gideon is our #2 ranked player in the 2027 class for good reason. His length, speed and football IQ are all off the chart. Gideons ability to read and react is special, and when the ball comes his way he is able to use his long legs to cover a ton of ground, and use his long arms to break up passes. He's a 2 way star and will be stepping into some big shoes with the departure of his brother Samson. A legitimate speed demon 6'4 defensive back is hard to find, but that's exactly DCC has for one more season.

Elijah is one of the more physical defensive backs in his class, but I still absolutely love his ability to cover in man. Whether it's short out routes or deep posts and go balls, Elijah stays in lock step with his man throughout. When the ball is fired his way, he uses his elite athleticism to knock balls away or jump routes. He has worked incredibly hard over the last year or so and it is paying dividends. I am confident that Elijah is a P4 talent.

I have liked Byrd for quite awhile, but the last couple of times I have seen him in person has instilled a ton of confidence in my evaluation. He is speedy, understands leverage and how to control a receiver on his route, and he can flat out play the ball when it comes his way. He flips his hips quickly and can turn on the jets on deep routes. Byrd is a true teach tape of “No Fly Zone” type defense.

Jayden is an elite talent that has already started receiving offers, including the national champion Indiana. Playing at the safety position, he has no issue going sideline to sideline. His speed and athleticism shine through, especially when people try risky throws over the middle. His reaction time is top notch, and he brings the physicality over the middle when a receiver makes a catch. I think another offseason under his belt will allow him to start really unlocking his potential.

Austin may be one of the best in the state when it comes to change of direction and being able to cover the entire field. He reads the QB well, and understands what the offense is trying to accomplish. From there, he cuts on a dime and typically does a great job of beating the quarterback to the spot before the QB can fire it in there. East Kentwood is on the rise and I know Nelson is getting some great coaching. Looking forward to seeing it come through in 2026!

You're going to hear me talk about Lowe a lot over the coming months. He has started to develop physically and adding some muscle, but the instincts and traits are there. He knows how to attack a WR, and he uses his height and length to his advantage. His backpedal is smooth, and he can flip his hips and stick with a receiver. As he continues to fill out his frame, he will be able to bring some more physicality and become a shutdown DB in all situations.

I have only seen some social media clips of Pierre, but I am confident in what I see, and the offers he has already started receiving backs me up. He's quick, he plays the ball well and can thrive in man coverage. Plus, being in a Cass Tech program that breeds DBs at an elite level doesn't hurt. I am so excited to see what he adds to his toolbox this offseason. He could be in for a MONSTER 2026.
