As 2030 prospects throughout America begin to realize the importance of film and social media, this period of winter/early spring always sees a number of "new" names and faces emerge. Below is a fiver of Garden State signal callers that have ascended up my list of prospects in the state. From Bergen to Cape May, the are kids that can play. Take a look.

I'm kicking myself for not finding his social media and film until early January, because he's a prospect I would have liked to see play live during the regular season. While not exactly the same type of player, Kachouh reminds me a ton of current 2029 Seton Hall Prep QB [player_tooltip player_id='1566331' first='George' last='Engelkraut']. Both extremely long kids; Both are basketball players; and both aren't necessarily dual-threat QBs so to speak, but can keep the scramble if they need to. Interestingly enough, the Green Wave and Pirates will face off in Week 7 this upcoming season.

While the other Quarterbacks in this writeup rely heavily on their arm to be effective, it's [player_tooltip player_id='2121086' first='Jaylen' last='Hendricks']' legs that separate him from the pack. While he is undersized in comparison to the majority of the top QBs in the state, his speed and athleticism is on a level by itself. The Cape May County prospect plays the position with elite, game-changing quickness. Watching him freestyle with the ball in his hands, is reminiscent of watching a Point Guard in open court on a fast break. Interestingly enough, Hendricks is also a standout basketball player.

Possessing one of the smoothest throwing motions of any 2030 prospect in the state when able to set his feet, Alex Kohler is a righty signal caller on the rise. The Bergen County prospect is a three-sport athlete (football/baseball/basketball) and it translates into his play. He's certainly on the lean side right now and will need to bulk up for the demands of high school ball, but the NBJFL All-Star has the potential to blossom into one of the state's best over the next four years at whichever high school he ultimately ends up at.

In preparation for last month's Prep Redzone Next Middle School Camp in New Jersey, I was watching film of eventual camp-standout Offensive LinemAn [player_tooltip player_id='2067838' first='Keith' last='O'Donnell'] when I saw [player_tooltip player_id='2121183' first='Gabriel' last='DePoder'] on film. Looking closer, I instantly saw a Quarterback prospect with a good frame and live right arm that delivered an accurate football. Upon reaching out to him and learning more about the prospect, DePoder is also a talented pitcher who recently hit 78 mph on the bump. The righty was a big reason for the Mustangs SJIYFA Championship in 2025, as they outscored opponents 222 - 71 on the year.

After a 2025 season that saw him split time between Silk City 14u based of out of Patterson, New Jersey and the Spring Valley Hornets based out of Rockland County, New York, [player_tooltip player_id='1638744' first='Looch' last='Tarone'] officially has a new home on Oradell Avenue. The polished righty has excellent foot work in the pocket and has excellent touch on the ball. Tarone does a nice job of shifting his weight during throws and isn't afraid to zip a ball into a small window if he feels he has a chance. He'll have a ton of playmakers joining him on the outside as freshmen Crusaders next year, and points could be plentiful.
