Last year, he played as a running back and a wildcat quarterback. His ability to hit the hole with his speed is excellent. He looks like he is shot out of a cannon with the ability to hit a hole. Then, when he gets into the open field, he is off to the races. He is also a physical running back who runs through contact at a high level. Then, on defense, he is an outstanding safety. His closing speed is one of the best I have seen from safeties. His ability to see the ball carriers close on them and tackle them in the open field is one of the best I have seen in the 2027 class. He also shows a physical running style as he runs downhill and takes on defenders at a high rate. His ability to make defenders miss is impressive. In his film, as both a running back and a kick returner, he shows big-play potential. Once he gets into the open field, he is off to the races, as he has good speed. As a kick-off returner, he is lethal as he hits the seam and does a great job making defenders miss. It is the same thing when he gets into the secondary as a running back. He also shows good quickness and burst, and he can make defenders miss initially with a lethal jump cut. He is also a physical runner who is hard to tackle. His ability to hit the hole and run through defenders is impressive. He is like a battery ram as a running back. Running in an I-Offense, he was the featured running back. He showed a physical running style that repeatedly broke tackles. He consistently took on defenders and broke through their tackles. While he might not have elite speed, Howell can break away and run for chunk yards at a time.
