Looking Ahead: Talented 2029s Who Impressed Us Last Season

Averett's acceleration is unbelievable. He can ramp up from 0-100 in a moment's notice, burning everyone in the open field for massive plays after the catch. When you combine that with his elusiveness and ability to change his direction, you've got a force out wide.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Everyone in the state should watch for Averett moving forward. He has massive potential out wide for Central and could be one of the next top WRs to emerge from the program.</em>"</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Averett had a dominant freshman campaign, hauling in 49 receptions for 939 yards and 9 TDs across 13 games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's impressive seeing how talented Averett already is despite being an underclassman. He's quick on his feet, can cut and elude defenders, and has the acceleration to quickly turn upfield for huge plays. Ward runs hard and has impressive contact balance that he uses to break tackles and stay on his feet, making the most out of every opportunity with the ball.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>I love seeing how versatile Ward is. He can play out of the backfield, take jet sweeps for big gains, and create some impressive plays deep downfield as a receiver. I'm really impressed with his skills as a passer, especially seeing how he attacks deeper parts of the field. Hudspeth is excellent at leading his receivers, hitting them perfectly in stride to complete some explosive plays downfield.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>I'm also really impressed with how well Hudspeth sees the field. He's quick and decisive, never putting the ball in harm's way, and constantly finding the open target. We all need to watch out for him next season. He's clearly a talented QB with a bright future ahead. Elliot is constantly near the ball; he's a disruptive force who uses his speed to fly around the field and create stops. I'm impressed with his tackling; he gets low, wraps up, and never allows the ball carrier to find extra yards after he makes first contact.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>I'm most impressed with Elliot's effort. He will work through several blocks to get to the ballcarrier, never quitting on the play and always coming up clutch with huge stops for his defense. His speed, acceleration, and vision allow him to consistently break off huge runs on the ground both inside and outside of the tackles. I really love seeing how well he follows his blockers; he's patient, waits for the perfect time to strike, and consistently capitalizes greatly on those rushing lanes.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>As soon as Sturgis gets past the line of scrimmage, good luck stopping him. He has top-end speed that completely separates him from every defender on the field. I really am looking forward to watching this kid next season.
