It's always exciting to find new players to add to our rankings at Prep Redzone North Carolina! In this 2027 class, at this point, a lot of our additions were about production from this past season, and these quarterbacks in particular put up some impressive numbers! We're going to break these guys down in this article, check it out!

I just wrote about A'todrick's (or AJ as is his nickname) performance at the CFI Carolinas Winter Showcase. He looked good with physical traits and speed there, and those attributes were on full display this past season as a dynamic dual-threat QB for the AL Brown Wonders. Passing for over 1200 yards and rushing for nearly 700 with 27 total touchdowns is some really impressive stuff. I'm excited to see what AJ does in his senior year, as he has some good skill talent returning with him for the Wonders as well.

As it is common this time of year, Kai is now listing himself at Northern Guilford High School, however our evaluation is based on what he did McMichael High School last season. And what Kai did was be an accurate thrower of the football from the pocket on a consistent basis. I liked Kai's accuracy and touch on the ball on deep throws down the field especially. Kai has nice throws when he's in a catch and throw rhythm, or in a catch and 3 step from gun rhythm. Kai can make some off-platform throws along with operating a little bit of RPO looks, so Northern Guilford's offense makes some sense for him next season for sure.

Chase definitely fit the profile for a watchlist player for us, mainly because he didn't get many varsity snaps this past season, but he had some good reps at the CFI Carolinas Winter Showcase back in December, and his physical traits are very strong at 6'4 with a strong arm and impressive pocket presence as a prospect. Chase should get his chance to perform this season in a South Iredell offense that became known for throwing the ball a good bit last season. I'm eager to see what Chase does with this opportunity.

Watching Johnson's film was interesting to say the least, mainly because of the offense New Hanover employs. New Hanover ran a lot of bootlegs and pro-style concepts which worked well for Johnson. I like his accuracy in the short and mid-range areas of the field most of all. New Hanover also used Johnson in the running game some in some short yardage situations, but I wouldn't put him in the dual-threat QB category necessarily just yet. A left-handed thrower, I would love to see how Johnson's development allows him to push the ball down field some.more, but he's got a nice talent base to work from with his accuracy, ball placement, and overall arm strength.

Mez, you can definitely put in the dual-threat category of quarterbacks for sure! In leading his team to the 5A State Championship Game, Mez threw for 1435 yards and 8 touchdowns, while adding 1374 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground, some really impressive production for sure. As a thrower, Mez has good accuracy down the field on deep throws and excels more throwing against man coverage on his film. As a runner, Mez is definitely dynamic, showing the ability to take runs off of the zone read game the distance with explosive speed and agility in the open field. His position on the next level might not be quarterback because of that explosive ability, but he's a playmaker at the end of the day.

Throwing for nearly 2700 yards and 28 touchdowns was impressive enough by itself for Jamel, but when you add on rushing for nearly 500 yards and 9 touchdowns, you have one of the more productive quarterbacks overall in the state of North Carolina. As a passer, Jamel has some nice touch on the deep ball and can place it where only his receivers make a play on it on a consistent basis. Jamel also shows the ability to make accurate throws out of the pocket for big gains as well, with nice velocity on the ball. I think Jamel's arm strength is pretty good overall, he was able to hit all areas of the field throwing the ball consistently. Jamel does have one offer from Elizabeth City State, and I think he's going to be a guy to keep an eye on during the upcoming camp season.
