The 2025 football season has come to an end and the calendar has officially flipped to 2026. Throughout the month of January, we'll be putting the spotlight on some of the top individuals from the 2025 football season. From All State Teams to our Player Of The Year award and much more! In today's post, we're recognizing the best freshman in the state for the 2025 football season with our Freshman Of The Year award. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more individual spotlights. And be sure to check out our PRZ-Oklahoma YouTube Channel for exclusive (and free) video content recapping the 2025 football season! This year's PRZ-Oklahoma Freshman Of The Year is Altus quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed']

Altus quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed'] was hands down the pick for this year's PRZ-Oklahoma Freshman Of The Year and it wasn't particularly close. Every now and then we get something right on this website. Back in August, we wrote about the incoming freshman class and we wrote the following about Reed.

"The season hasn't even kicked off yet, but if we had to make a prediction on who the 2025 Freshman Of The Year will be, Altus quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed'] could be the pick. Reed is a terrific athlete that also has a very strong arm. He already has size, speed and as the arm power continues to progress, he has the potential to put up some monster numbers in the run and pass game over the next four seasons."

And it didn't take Reed long to back up the preseason hype and dominate the varsity level. As a passer, Reed threw for just shy of 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns while completing 62 percent of his passes. He also finished with 750 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. He didn't lead the team in carries but he did lead the team in rushing yards and touchdowns this season. And Reed made it a perfect 50 in the touchdown category by catching a touchdown as well as Altus would move him outside at wide receiver in very specific moments, when they needed a big play.

Reed was a critical part of the Altus redemption story this season. They aren't that far removed from going 0-10 and then 1-9 the following season. This year, they went 8-3 and made it back to the playoffs. We began doing Freshman Of The Year in 2022 and Reed becomes the second quarterback (and for the second straight year) to get this recognition after Washington QB [player_tooltip player_id='473891' first='Creed' last='Barrett'] took it home last season.

Reed has also seen his recruitment start to take off and he's one of a handful of 2029 prospects that has already firmly established himself as a name to know across the state of Oklahoma. Now, it will be interesting to see what happens moving forward as Reed's dad, Altus head coach Jeremy Reed stepped down as the Bulldog head coach earlier this week. And at the time that we published this, it was not known what the next steps are for the freshman quarterback. But no matter where that is, he's going to be someone to follow moving forward.
