With the Elite All-State Team taken care of, we'll spend the month of December handing out Class All-State awards. Now, we move to the offensive side of the ball in 2A.

In writing these articles, we want to cast a wider net, expanding on the names that have already been established as the best of the best across classes, so we won't repeat names that were already listed on the Elite Team.

QUARTERBACK

[player_tooltip player_id='1242935' first='Brock' last='Badding'], SR, Kuemper Catholic

The state leader in touchdowns, passing touchdowns and passing yards, Badding was 2A's top quarterback from start to finish in 2025. He finished the year completing 214-of-313 passes (68.4%) for 3,079 yards (more than 300 yards ahead of second place) 37 touchdowns (seven more than second place) and just six interceptions. He added four scores on the ground. Badding hasn't reported any offers for football, but if I were an FCS, D2 or JUCO program in need of a 2026 quarterback, I'd be hammering on his door until the next signing day.

RUNNING BACKS

[player_tooltip player_id='1901425' first='Laken' last='Caves'], JR, Alburnett

A new name on the block this year, Caves was one of the top playmakers in all three phases in 2A this season. The class leader in all-purpose yards with 2,816, Caves was the bell cow back on the ground and a top-tier returner for the Pirates. He finished the season with 235 carries for 1,880 yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground and 31 catches for 390 yards and three scores through the air offensively. He also returned 13 kicks for 417 yards and a touchdown and seven punts for 104 yards. On defense, the junior finished with 35 tackles and three picks.

Thanks to a second monster season in a row, Caves feels like a prospect right on the precipice of earning Division I offers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1621099' first='Jarin' last='Hoffman'], JR, Kuemper Catholic

Another junior tailback that provided some major juice for his team, Hoffman got things going on the ground to compliment Badding's passing numbers. This season, the 5-foot-8, 190 pound back took 260 carries for 1,671 yards and 23 scores on the ground and added 20 catches for 162 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

WIDE RECEIVERS

[player_tooltip player_id='1923069' first='Keenan' last='Kilburg'], SR, Bellevue

The primary beneficiary of Bellevue's air it out offense, Kilburg led the entire state in receptions this fall, catching 103 passes, out-pacing second place by nearly 20 receptions. That, and he led all classes with 1,477 yards, the only pass-catcher to eclipse more than 1,350 yards. Oh, and he finished with 14 touchdown receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2075898' first='Luke' last='Thoreson'], JR, Roland-Story

The only player to surpass Kilburg in one of the major receiving stats, Thoreson finished the year grabbing 75 catches for 1,206 yards and 21 touchdowns on behalf of Roland Story. A junior on the rise, Thoreson tied for the fifth-most receiving touchdowns in all classes, and like Kilburg, provided much of the offensive firepower for the Norsemen this season.

TIGHT END

[player_tooltip player_id='1370695' first='Brayden' last='Hoben'], SR, Grandview Christian

The most productive tight end in the class by a mile, Hoben served as Judah Locke's go-to target through the air, grabbing 50 receptions for 698 yards and eight touchdowns this season. The South Dakota State signee and 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect has all the makings of being a prospect the Jackrabbits can develop into a top-tier player at the FCS level.

OFFENSIVE LINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1077234' first='Hayden' last='Shannon'], JR, PCM

A Power 4 prospect, Shannon is one of a few reasons PCM was a formidable opponent all season long, taking their only losses to 3A state champion Nevada and Wilton, who reached The UNI-Dome. Shannon, an OL with great feet and punch up top, holds offers from Iowa State and Nebraska.

[player_tooltip player_id='1694834' first='Reid' last='Steger'], JR, Kuemper Catholic

Already standing at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds as a junior for the Knights, Steger is an absolute mammoth of a human being. Able to overwhelm opposing DL with his size and strength, Steger was a critical piece to giving Badding time in the passing game and creating holes for Hoffman to run through. He holds offers from Northern Iowa and South Dakota State.

[player_tooltip player_id='1393166' first='Nate' last='Brenneman'], JR, Boyden Hull/Rock Valley

Somehow another 2A lineman with Power 4 programs knocking on his door as a junior, Brenneman started to gain attention this season for Boyden Hull/Rock Valley. At 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, Brenneman still has more room to grow, but he shows near-elite run-blocking, getting up under the pads of Dl and taking them to the boundary.

[player_tooltip player_id='1370600' first='Mason' last='Campbell'], SR, Cherokee Washington

A lineman that helped pave the way for one of the more ridiculously productive rushing offenses in the state this season, Campbell was critical in much of what [player_tooltip player_id='1687045' first='Blake' last='Lovell'] and Air Force commit, [player_tooltip player_id='1221948' first='Jaxon' last='Paulsrud'] did for Cherokee this fall. Paulsrud finished with 2,021 yards and 30 touchdowns on the ground, while Lovell added 1,214 yards and 16 scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250804' first='Calan' last='Peters'], SR, Okoboji

Might as well throw in another Division I prospect while we're at it. Part of a resurgent program at Okoboji, Peters will join Paulsrud at the Air Force Academy next year. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, the center routinely got to the second level in run-blocking, punished any defensive tackle that lined up opposite of him and played with a high motor.

With the Elite All-State Team taken care of, we'll spend the month of December handing out Class All-State awards. Now, we move to the offensive side of the ball in 2A.
