#1 Vian faces #3 Davis in Harrah on Friday night and it's a rematch of last year's 2A-2 state championship game. Vian certainly hasn't forgotten the way last year ended and Davis is looking to add another state championship to their growing trophy case in southern Oklahoma. The top-ranked Wolverines feel just as dangerous as ever this season, led by one of the best players in the state. They stumbled in non-district play but they've smashed the 2A-2 competition this season. In last year's title game, turnovers plagued the Wolverines so if they can avoid those costly turnovers and get the Davis offense off the field, they're going to have a great opportunity to punch their ticket back to Edmond. But that's much easier said than done. The Wolves are 10-2 on the season and they are not going to make things easy for Vian on Friday night. In that state title match-up, every time Vian slipped up, Davis was right there to capitalize and when you look at the top programs across the state of Oklahoma, that's one thing they all have in common. This is a rematch that a lot of people have wanted to see for the last 12 months and we finally get it on Friday night.

We've written countless articles at this point about Vian senior [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] and in every article we say the same thing. He's one of the best players in Oklahoma. And what's scary is the fact that Wright has a full tank of gas as we head into this week's semifinal showdown. The Wolverines haven't leaned on him as much to carry this offense this season. So while the overall stats and production might not be what we saw from him last year, make no mistake about it. He's still explosive, he's still a playmaker and now he doesn't have as much wear and tear going into Friday's game with Davis. Despite coming up short against the Wolves last season, Wright was still one of the best players on the field that day. But there is no doubt that he and Vian is incredibly hungry to get one more crack at the Wolves and potentially punch their ticket back to Edmond.

[player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] - Junior Quarterback

Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] is a three-year starter and helped lead the Wolves to the state title a year ago. There was no doubt that he was going to be our spotlight player for the Wolves coming into this week's showdown with Vian. Owens runs this option offense to perfection but here's the thing about his game that doesn't get enough credit, he's a true quarterback. Owens has been throwing the ball more often this season and while his bread and butter is still in the run game, he's a guy who can beat a defense with his arm now and that certainly adds another dimension to their offense. Throw in the fact that he's the ultimate X-factor and you have a player that's dangerous. Just look at last year's title game. Owens returned a kick for a touchdown and erased any momentum that Vian had. He'll look to torch the Wolverines again Friday.

#2 ADAIR (12-0) VS #7 STROUD (11-1)
Friday - 7:00PM - Ponca City H.S.

#2 Adair will face #7 Stroud in Ponca City on Friday night and this semifinal is so intriguing to us because of the overall 2A-2 outlook. All eyes might be on that Davis-Vian rematch. Plenty think that the winner of that game will go on to win the 2A-2 title. We might have that all wrong. #2 Adair is the last remaining undefeated team in Class 2A-2. The Warriors have been perfect all year and they have quite the history of winning big games. They survived a rally from Holdenville in the quarterfinal round to remain undefeated and now they are one win away from making it back to the state title game for the first time since they won it all a decade ago. The Warriors are certainly a team to take seriously. Then you have a Stroud team that is 11-1 on the season and they are back in the semifinals for the second straight year. They lost to eventual champion Davis in a low-scoring game a year ago in the semifinals. They're looking for their first championship game appearance since 2009. And we've said this before but we thought Stroud would take somewhat of a step back this year because of what they lost to graduation. Wrong. They lost the season opener and haven't lost since.

[player_tooltip player_id='1328091' first='Cooper' last='McCord'] - Senior Quarterback/Linebacker

Senior quarterback and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1328091' first='Cooper' last='McCord'] has been one of the state's most underrated players over the last two seasons. Throw on the tape, look at the production, see him in person and you see a player that is more than capable of putting the team on his shoulders and making a run. And we've seen Adair quarterbacks do that in the past with McCord being the most recent example. Offensively, McCord runs this offense to perfection. He's the perfect example of a dual-threat quarterback where he can beat a defense with his legs but the second an opponent tries to stop the run, he has the ability to torch them with his arm. McCord then turns around and hammers the opponent from his linebacker position on defense. He's a physical player that can fly all over the field. He will obviously play a big role in the outcome of Friday's game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1830075' first='Trystan' last='Baker'] - Senior Running Back/Linebacker

Stroud senior [player_tooltip player_id='1830075' first='Trystan' last='Baker'] is arguably the top two-way player on the Stroud roster when you look at his production and overall impact on the game. First off, Baker leads the team in tackles from his linebacker position and when you're talking about this match-up with Adair, he's certainly going to have a major role Friday as the Tigers look to slow down Adair and what they like to do offensively. Baker has also been very productive on the offensive side of the ball. The Tigers use multiple guys at the running back position and Baker is one of those standouts that have a way of finding their way into the end zone. And when we look at Baker's game and what Stroud has been over the last few years. He really reminds us of those prototypical Stroud two-way players that might be flying under the radar around the state but the impact is real.
