5 Underclassmen That Raised Their Stock at Ford Field

Against a tough Dewitt team, Xavier continued to battle over and over, and nearly willed his team to a comeback. He was pretty solid in the air, but his 162 yards and 2 TDs were what kept his team around as long as they were! As a sophomore, doing what he did on the biggest stage in high school football is incredibly impressive. 19/25, 241 yards and 2 TDs against a Unity Christian squad that had played phenomenal defense all season long. He was as calm and poised as ever, picked his spots and got the ball to his playmakers. Doing it all while gritting through an injury just adds another level to how impressive of a day it was. He officially finished with a team-high 10 tackles, to go along with a forced fumble, returned for a TD. It seemed like he knew where plays were going before they ever started. His instincts and athleticism were on full display and are off the charts! Doing it against such a prolific offense that was used to scoring in bunches is really impressive. His ability to get downfield and get behind the defense is unlike many others, except maybe his brother Samson. Even though the defense knew where the ball was going, there was very little they could do to take it away, and Gash made them pay for it. One of the highlights was taking a little dump off to the house with some sweet moves and a burst of speed. He also had an absurd catch that didn't count, but was an unbelievable display of concentration and athleticism. I liked his film, but seeing him in person gave me a whole new appreciation for his game.
