11/01: Pittsford Holds on vs Fairport, 24-21

The Pittsford Panthers were able to hold on for a huge 24-21 victory over the Fairport Red Raiders. Straightaway, this was a physical game, as big hits were being delivered by both sides. Undoubtedly, the Panthers were able to have a tremendous amount of success running the football between the tackles and on power runs. The catalyst carrying the workload was RB Eric Chen, RB [player_tooltip player_id='1619566' first='Maxwell' last='Ciavarri'], and TE Jack Thurley. The first score came from QB Brody Pusateri, who was able to muscle his way into the end zone on a QB draw. In the same fashion, Pusateri was able to have the same success later in the 3rd quarter. In short, Chen had the Panthers' final score in the 4th quarter at the 9:54 mark. There were large special teams and defensive plays, including a blocked punt by Mikolaj Vaughn and an INT by Dayshawn Preston. [player_tooltip player_id='1619566' first='Maxwell' last='Ciavarri'] also played a huge factor at LB, making critical tackles. The Pittsford defense held it together in the end to advance to the next round.

Overall, the Red Raiders had an outstanding season. Fairport fought to the end, which they have shown to do in every matchup. QB Samuel Roselli was able to get Fairport on the board when he scrambled out of the pocket and into the end zone. Formerly, Roselli hit a 68-yard pass to help get the Raiders into a scoring opportunity and connected with Jonathan Roessel for a TD with less than 9 minutes left. From time-to-time James Krester was able to have some successful and powerful runs through the heart of the defense. Offensive linemen such as Brenner Patterson did show up, creating lanes, and displayed a large amount of strength at the POA.

11/01: McQuaid Jesuit Upsets UPrep in OT, 21-20

Who would have seen this coming! The McQuaid Jesuit Knights were able to upset UPrep in OT with the final score of 21 to 20. Henceforth, the defense for McQuaid played exceptionally well, forcing early three-and-outs, and of course, DB Darquin Windom making the game-winning tackle in OT. All three scores for the Knights were delivered from RB Ian Lanahan. The first was to take an early 7 to 6 lead with only 4:36 remaining in the ballgame. Conversely, Lanahan then scored again from 5 yards out with only :45 seconds left. McQuaid did get the ball first in OT, and that is where Lanahan scored for the 3rd time.

UPrep answered every punch that McQuaid threw at them. Following every TD that the Knights had, QB [player_tooltip player_id='1513210' first='Gavin' last='White'] seemed to have an answer. White had the first points of the game before half on a QB sneak and then had a 54-yard TD following McQuaid's second score. RB [player_tooltip player_id='1344737' first='Kamari' last='Miller'] had a strong 13-yard TD run as well. In OT, UPrep did decide to go for 2 and the win, but it ultimately fell short.
