Pearl River, and Pelham took to the field, on a windy Saturday afternoon, as the winner hoped to advance to the Semi-Finals of the playoffs. The wind was a major factor in a defensive game, as the Pirates took down the Pelicans 21-14, and stopped a late rally to hold onto the playoff win. The Pearl River QB, battled an injury in the second half, but managed to toss three touchdown passes, leading Pearl River to a win.   Lanese displayed incredible accuracy, and arm strength against the wind. I like his release, and mechanics, as his passes seem effortless. He stood tall in the pocket, and displayed good strength, taking some big hits.     Kalchbenner, has been a WR, to watch this season. The Senior Pass Catcher, had a few catches on the day, and show cased good skills in the receiving game.   Kalchbenner, had a good release, and gained separation from his DB's easily. I liked his footwork, and he displayed sharp cuts, and good route running throughout the game. He showcased good hands, and made catches look easy for the Pirates.     Murphy, was easily the MVP for the Pirates. The Senior ATH, had an outstanding game on the defensive side of the ball, racking up two interceptions.   Murphy, showcased a high IQ throughout the game, and had good form on tackles. He had a high motor, and charged to the ball on plays to stop potential big runs. Murphy as a DB, had great ball tracking ability, and had good body control, which was shown with his picks.     Fitzgerald had himself a good day in the pass catching department, hauling in a touchdown, and going for over 60 yards on the receiving end.   Fitzgerald, displayed good strength and had good catches through contact. The ATH, had soft hands, and showcased good route running and footwork, allowing him to get open. He was used as a blocker occasionally, and had good hand placement, setting the edge on multiple plays.     Mahoney was used mainly as a RB role, which was extremely valuable due to the wind and weather throughout the game. Mahoney had a solid game with multiple good rushes.   Mahoney displayed a high IQ, and found the gap created by his line on multiple occasions. He has a good burst, and good footwork, which allowed him to have multiple good rushes. I liked his strength, and he always fell forward on tackles.     The Pelham QB, had a decent day at the helm. The wind greatly affected his throws, and forced multiple turnovers. Despite the turnovers, Reese kept his team in it till the last minute.   I liked his IQ, and he showcased good progressions, moving through his receivers while standing tall in the pocket. Outside the pocket, he was a good threat, and showcased good speed with his legs, along with solid arm strength outside the pocket. Reese is a name to watch.     Reda had himself a game, and played on both sides of the ball for the Pelicans. I like him more on the defensive side, but as a TE, he showcases solid traits.   Reda has outstanding size, and he towers over players on both sides of the ball. As a TE, he has good hands, and strength, which can be used in the receiving game and blocking game. He showcased solid speed, which allowed him to take for big gains. On the defensive side, his hands allowed his to shed blocks, and reach the backfield or make plays on the ball.
