Week 9 Recap- Standout Defensive Performances Across the State

What a week!   Today, we're watching some of our Standout Performers on the defensive side of the ball. These prospects dominated this week and have been putting together some impressive seasons- we're all going to have to watch out for them moving forward.   With that being said, make sure you watch their film below!    [player_tooltip player_id='1880424' first='Myles' last='Johnson'] is a talented junior DB who's been making a big impact in Baker's secondary this fall.   "Johnson is an intelligent player who finds ways to make an impact whether he's on defense or special teams. He has great instincts, is quick to find the ball, and can make some impressive open-field tackles to eliminate huge plays.   In coverage, Johnson has impressive timing and a reliable set of hands he uses to fly around and break up passes. He's a well-rounded defender teams will have to watch out for in multiple phases of the game."   Johnson had a terrific performance against Fairhope, racking up 10 tackles (3 for loss) and 3 sacks on the night.      [player_tooltip player_id='1645215' first='Walker' last='Turner'] has been having a dominant senior season for Enterprises' defense this fall, and this week was no different.   "At 6'2 216, Turner is quick on his feet, plays with great pursuit, and has a high football IQ that allows him to quickly recognize and disrupt plays. Turner is terrific at reading and making plays in pursuit- he takes great angles and has impressive closing speed he uses to rack up plays all around the field.   On top of that, Turner is really effective on passing downs- he constantly blitzes his way into the backfield to generate tons of pressure and has the ball skills out in coverage to track and break up passes as well."   Turner had another great performance this week against Smiths Station. He racked up 13 total tackles and a sack, flying around the field to create stops every down.      [player_tooltip player_id='1604824' first='Charles' last='Chappelle'] is an electric LB who's brought a ton of skill and talent to Benjamin Russell's defense this season.   "Chappelle is highly athletic and really impresses me in coverage. Although playing LB, Chappelle has terrific ball skills and can come away with PBUs and interceptions on some huge passing downs.   Outside of coverage, Chappelle is really effective at blitzing and stopping the run- he is hard to contain when he's coming downfield and frequently comes away with huge plays in the backfield."   Chappelle was terrific against Chelsea last week. He flew around the field every snap, ending the game with 13 total tackles (3 for loss)      [player_tooltip player_id='1115964' first='Landon' last='Everett'] is a tackling machine out of Gulf Shores who's been finding tons of success week after week this season.   "Everett has been a tackling machine for Gulf Shores each season he's started- he's excellent in pursuit and can make big tackles both in the open field, down in the box, and behind the line of scrimmage. He's terrific at identifying plays and consistently puts himself in great position to create an impact every down.   Everett is also reliable against the pass in coverage and as a blitzer, shutting down pass catchers and causing tons of problems for quarterbacks in the backfield."   Everett was unstoppable against Baldwin County last week. He racked up 13 total tackles and pressured the opposing QB multiple times, making an impact every down.
