1A: MAPLESVILLE vs. WADLEY (12/4)

In the 1A, Maplesville won over Wadley 42-22!

Simply put, [player_tooltip player_id='1621009' first='Nehemiah' last='McCary'] is an absolute star. He's an incredible RB who helped lead Maplesville to this point in the year, and man, did he show up on the biggest stage. He put up 180+ yards and a TD on the ground, helping consistently pave the way for Maplesville's offense.

Wadley put up a serious fight until their star player, [player_tooltip player_id='1349523' first='Jaquez' last='Wilkes'], went down with an injury near halftime. It was super unfortunate to see- he's been an unbelievable player throughout his career and was playing really well in the first two quarters.

Look out for Maplesville next season. I can't see anyone in the 1A stopping McCary and this run game next season- I really think they'll only continue to get better.

3A: BAYSIDE vs. MARS HILL (12/4)

In the 3A, Mars Hill went back-to-back and won 38-21!

Mars Hill had one of the best rushing attacks in the state this season, and it showed up last night on the biggest display. [player_tooltip player_id='695078' first='Jaxon' last='Penn'] (206 yds and 3 TDs) and [player_tooltip player_id='271992' first='Hudson' last='Higgins'] (196 yds and 3 TDs) were absolutely unstoppable, recording a combined 401 yards and 5 TDs on the ground.

Bayside Academy fought hard in the first half, but Mars Hill's run game in the later parts of the game completely took over. I was seriously impressed again with [player_tooltip player_id='222965' first='Davis' last='Barnett']'s performance; he's a star QB everyone in the state needs to look out for moving forward. I don't think we've seen the end of Bayside's run in the slightest. I really look forward to seeing what they do this next season.

Mars Hill wrapped up another unbelievable season, going 15-0 and winning state yet again. It'll be really exciting to see if they can pull off a three-peat in the 3A next year. They're a terrific team.

5A: MOODY vs. VIGOR (12/4)

In the 5A, Moody won 25-0!

Offensively, Moody took it to the ground and dominated. RB [player_tooltip player_id='401124' first='Le'Kamren' last='Meadows'] was unstoppable, gashing the Vigor defense for 186 yards and 3 TDs off of 25 carries. Moody's offensive line was terrific in the trenches, consistently opening up huge lanes for Meadows all night long.

Defensively, Moody shut them out and held Vigor to only 171 yards of offense. They did a terrific job in the trenches and in the secondary, holding [player_tooltip player_id='1603640' first='Sammy' last='Dunn'] to only 86 yards in the air and bringing in a crucial interception in the red zone. Moody even blocked a punt in this game, making it a tough night for Vigor to do much of anything.

I was super impressed with how Moody performed in this game. They played with a ton of physicality and were able to wear down a really talented Vigor defense. Moody has a ton of young talent on this team as well, look out for them next season.

7A THOMPSON vs. OPELIKA (12/3)

In the 7A, Thompson won 48-10!

Offensively, Thompson was able to pass and run the ball at will. [player_tooltip player_id='216690' first='Trent' last='Seaborn'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1640379' first='Pryce' last='Lewis'] were dominant, connecting for 4 catches for 110 yards and 2 TDs. Thompson was able to run the ball really well, totaling 239 yards on the ground with great performances from [player_tooltip player_id='401137' first='RJ' last='Evans'] (85 yds and one TD), [player_tooltip player_id='1624742' first='Urijah' last='Casey'] (56yds), and KJ Jackson (43 yds and one TD).

Defensively, Thompson was able to force a ton of turnovers. Interceptions from Damonte Tabb, [player_tooltip player_id='646271' first='Trenton' last='McCorvey'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1953840' first='Chauncy' last='Alo'] made it easy for Thompson's offense to take over, consistently giving them great field position throughout the game. On top of that, they did a great job stopping the run- holding Opelika to only 87 yards on the ground.

Thompson is capping off a sixth championship season under HC Mark Freeman, and man, has it been a blast to watch. It'll be exciting to see how the Warriors will do next season; they have another huge year ahead.
